Just watched 'The Path to 9/11'
September 10, 2006 | myself

Posted on 09/10/2006 6:28:09 AM PDT by Byron_the_Aussie

Part one shown on Australian TV this evening.

Don't miss it, my Freeper friends. It's no wonder the Clintonistas have thrown everything at ABC/Disney, in a desperate effort to have the miniseries cancelled. Documents exactly what we've been following over the years on FR. Brave agents on the ground in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Dedicated people at Langley and the J. Edgar Hoover building, working around the clock to capture or kill Bin Laden, Ramzi Yusef et al. And all their efforts derailed by Clinton appointees like Berger and Allbright- selfishly putting their own careers (and covering their asses) before protecting the USA. The line of the show delivered by the actor playing Masood, brave and charismatic leader of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan:

...are there any men left in Washington? Or are they all cowards?....

Take the phone off the hook, and don't miss it. All the best, Byron

His televised interview with Peter Arnette in 1997?

So ABC didn't cancel this film after all. My television on-screen guide says "The Path to 9/11" will be shown tonight on ABC from 8 - 11pm. We'll be tuning in. I sure hope we see the same version of the movie that you saw...

I don't think that's it, onyx. This was a one hour special with a much younger journalist. It was part interview and part overview. I know Arnette worked for CNN until 1999. He might have had a stint with ABC, too, but it doesn't appear that's the case.

Thanks a lot for those clips!

I think it's important to watch them, in order, so we can compare and contrast the content which airs later this evening. May be the same, may not.

Everyone should read the book, "Derelection of Duty"

Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Robert "Buzz" Patterson was a military aide to President Clinton from May 1996 to May 1998 and one of five individuals entrusted with carrying the "nuclear football"—the bag containing the codes for launching nuclear weapons. This responsibility meant that he spent a considerable amount of time next to the president, giving him a unique perspective on the Clinton administration. Though he arrived at the job "filled with professional devotion and commitment to serve," he left believing that Clinton had "sown a whirlwind of destruction upon the integrity of our government, endangered our national security, and done enormous harm to the American military in which I served."

Dereliction of Duty is not a personal attack on President Clinton or a commentary on his various scandals; rather, it is a "frank indictment of his obvious—to an eyewitness—failure to lead our country with responsibility and honor." Lt. Col. Patterson offers a damning list of anecdotes and charges against the President, including how Clinton lost the nuclear codes and shrugged it off; how he stalled and lost the opportunity to launch a direct strike on Osama bin Laden at a confirmed location; how the President and the First Lady, and much of their staff, consistently treated members of the military with disrespect and disdain; and how Clinton groped a female Air Force enlisted member while aboard Air Force One, among other incidents large and small. A considerable portion of this slim book is devoted to the myriad ways in which President Clinton undermined the military, and hence the security, of the nation. He seriously questions Clinton's decisions to send troops to Somalia, Rwanda, Haiti, and Bosnia to accomplish non-military tasks without clear objectives. Having participated in each of these engagements, Lt. Col. Patterson personally "experienced the frustration of needlessly wasted lives, effort, and national prestige" as well as the alarmingly low morale that Clinton inspired.

Two questions

1 If I go there will it hurt?
2 Will it have anything to do with reality?

Folks, lets not assume it will air this same way in the States.

They may have a diff version overseas since the ruckus is over here.

HOWEVER, it also seems unlikely to me that this would be the case. Why go to the work of having two versions?

Most likely, they will show this version to us as well.

Too bad the CBS one is showing tonight also (why show it on 9/10 anyway, CBS....too afraid to give up 2 1/2 men?). This miniseries is two nights, so I can understand ABC running something on 9/10.

Did it have the hang-up scene by Berger and the scene where Albright wonders about whether she can even order the taking out of OBL?

Now that I think of it, if the Clinton fight, they could be exposed even further.

They would not be foolish enough to contest the issue after the fact. There would be no upside to doing so and severe downside, ie depositions and documents through discovery. The whole rotted, roach-infested, termite ridden shack which makes up the edifice of the clinton legacy would collapse in a mess of dirt and filth and debris.
