Models to be banned for being too thin
The Telegraph ^ | 9/9/06 | Fiona Govan in Madrid

Spain's main fashion show is to turn away models if they are too thin, striking a blow for fuller-figured women.

Organisers of the Pasarela Cibeles have devised a formula to calculate the models' body mass index and 30 per cent of them are expected to fail, said the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain.

The move is part of a voluntary agreement with the Madrid regional government, said designer Jesus del Pozo. The association said it wanted models to project "an image of beauty and health" and shun a gaunt, emaciated look at the show, which begins on Sep 18.

Last year's show drew protests from medical associations because some models were bone-thin. This year, organisers have been pressed to hire fleshier women as role models.

You're close, but I prefer this build. She's proportionate and functional.

Pretty eyes, don't you think?

The biggest problem is that those who are emaciated think they are still too fat.

Yes but. The reverse is also true. My sister here, thinks she's too thin.

Let's just say with out the bodies chemical regualator what I could eat in a day when a bean pole is more like spread out over 3 days.

It's definitely a problem, I've seen comments in other forums where people (mostly guys) have called Alicia Silverstone a "BBW".

Yes. Jane Russell is one of the most beautiful women ever to be in movies.
And
She's also a life long Republican/Conervative

From her Bio:

In 2006 (at age 84), Jane put together a musical show entitled "The Swinging Forties" that plays twice a month at the Radisson Hotel. The show features herself and about a dozen local Santa Maria residents, including a choir director, lay preacher and retired police officer. She formed the show out of boredom and because there was nothing much going on in town for the older folks to do.

A real Lady.

Speaking of size 12, what is WITH these idiot fashion designers and the stores that buy from their lines???

I lost 150 pounds and went from a size 24 down to a 12-14. I thought all my clothing aggravations would be solved. WRONG! I can't count how many times I've tried to find a plain pair of jeans -- size 12, straight leg (boot cut blows, sorry), normal fit -- and what do I find? A gross of size 6. 8's aren't far behind. I can even find more 16 and 18 sizes than 12's and 14's!!!

For being the average size, it's sure darned hard to find average clothes.

They've changed the sizes. Really. Recently, I saw a friend of mine who has been in the clothing manufacturing biz for over 20 years and she confirmed it.

But congrats on your weight loss....it's a nice problem to have!

Jane Russell in "Outlaw".

Isn't this the movie for which Howard Hughes designed/invented the cantilevered bra [for Jane Russell]?

Size 12? Wow! I'm size 12. I was sure I was huge. I'm series. Of course, once upon a time (five kids ago, I was size 3).

I have a photo of a model wearing what I think you're referring to. I don't know if I'd be allowed to post it since it's considered underwear.
