thank you. I guess all the John Murthas in this thread will have no problem looking in the mirror.
Hope she will be ok.

enough pal. I don't know what your trip is, but at no time have I suggested anything untoward or unsavory on her part. At one point I said she might have "met a Muslim male". That's it. Nothing was meant by that.
If she did encounter one of those bastards, be it a cab driver or a common mugger, and something unfortunate happened to her, it's a tragedy, but I'm glad she's alive and safe.
Now go take a cold shower and calm down.

If you haven't made Major by 30, you might be looking at a RIF package in your near future.

Ran off with some local man I predictI don't think so...more likely kidnapped, beaten, raped and returned.
To: 1rudeboy
Maybe if you'd read the story, you'd know she appears to have been beaten.

I just reread the notice I have of this and you are right. She was deployed in April a couple of weeks after her marriage. Still I consider her a new bride. The question is whether the Pentagon quote can be believed or not. I generally give the Pentagon the benefit of the doubt.

Sounds like she may have been abducted, possibly raped, beaten, then kicked out on the road. If that's the case, Thank God, that's all that happened! She could easily have been killed. The honeymoon may be delayed until she recovers, but at least she'll HAVE one!

the other thing is, what woman wants it repeated over and over again IF she was raped or abused in any way......I don't see the men who were supposedly raped in the first Iraq war talking much about it........
I don't know what happened to this young AMERICAN OFFICIER but I am very very glad she is going to be able to come home....

Hi Cherry (trying post between ISP hang-ups - too much static on my phone line)
Here is another update...

SNIPPET
Metzger was described as disoriented with some minor injuries; one source tells CBS News her feet were cut and bleeding.

Yeah I see that as a possibility. "not being held against her will" could be a very precise way of saying they didn't find her during imprisonment. It's not clear.

"She's a woman. She stopped and ask for directions. See how well it worked out."
As a woman, I represent that remark...urrgghhh...I mean resent that remark.

Maj. Jill Metzger, 33, was found on the side of the road with her head shaven Someone further up the thread suggested that they probably thought she was a tourist and grabbed her, and then when they found out that the entire US military was looking for her, they knocked her around and dumped her. SOunds plausible to me. Time will tell, I guess.

Maybe if you'd read the story, you'd know she appears to have been beaten. Maybe if you saw the original post you'd STFU.

From every past American hostage/prisoner ever taken in war.
A while ago in the Gulf war there were two women taken and this was thought to be the first women not raped in a military hostage situation.
A year later they also said they were raped.
It's one of the main reasons people don't want women in areas of actual battle.
Nurses and Medics risk it anyway, but mechanics and fighting women give much unneeded exposure in the opinion of many.
