For those who don't know, Barbara and John were Freepers BKO and BCM respectively. Both represented what's great about FR and conservatism. Both went out fighting. I think of them, and people like them, often.

"We didnt lose almost 3,000 people that day. We lost one wonderful person at a time, almost 3,000 times."It really hits home when expressed like that. Thanks for the very eloquent post.

We didnt lose almost 3,000 people that day. We lost one wonderful person at a time, almost 3,000 times. That's a zinger straight to the heart. Sometimes we forget that they were all individual people, with lives and families. Thank you for the reminder.
May I steal that for a tag line?

I was fortunate to meet Barbara in Houston at a Republican party. She was so tiny, so friendly, she just bubbled over with life. There were two other Barbaras there besides me and BKO. She was just the nicest, smartest, prettiest, most outgoing person you would ever want to meet. Everyone who met her loved her. She put everyone at ease, even total strangers. She lit up the room whenever she entered it. What a lovely smile she had. So full of life. She was as smart as she was pretty, and as pretty as she was nice! The world lost a beautiful person on 9/11. A truly beautiful beautiful person! God bless her memory and may she rest in peace. Amen.

Forgot to mention...I called in to Vickie McKenna's show today while she was discussing 9/11 conspiracy idiots, and since my point was about the FDNY (I ask, if it's so obvious to a million Birkenstock wearing idiots that the towers couldn't have fallen from fire, who is shutting up the hundreds of thousands of firement and structural engineers who "know" the same thing?) as soon as I got on the air I dedicated my phone call to John's memory.

free download of THE BALLAD OF MIKE MORAN (aka THE FIREMAN SONG) For those who have never heard it, I hope you enjoy it. It was written in honor of John Moran and the rest of those brave souls who were lost. This was inspired by Mike's challenge to Osama bin Laden. I had the great pleasure about after the song was released to join Mike and some NY FReepers in a night of beer drinking at a NY pub.

God bless Barbara and John aka BKO and BCM.
I wasn't a FReeper yet on that horrible day. I wish I would've been.
Finding you wonderful people, that understand the real dangers in this world, has been a comfort and a motivator in my personal and political life.
Your principles and memory live on, BKO and BCM. I'm thankful and proud to be a member of Free Republic.

I was fairly familiar with BCM before 911 and he had some outstanding posts. I learned about BKO in the days following.
I learned great respect for her(BKO) and couldn't imagine the loss Ted felt. She is a lady to the end.
The dems are too crazy in their grab for power to bring attention to wonderfull people like these.
Let them live forever in our hearts and minds.

Wonderful tributes. We lost so much that day but losing these two freepers and great Americans is something those of us here will never forget.
Every terrorist killed and every plot overturned is for you BCM and BKO! You are missed.

I didn't know they were both freepers. How about that?
I got to know Barbara, one of my favorites, on the cable channels during the Clinton scandal. As the article states, she was always pleasant but made excellent points and argued her positions well.
She worked for a congressman my brother worked for, and he got to talk to her when she was a guest on a talk show Mark Levin was guest hosting. Her presence and voice in the conservative community is truly missed.
Prayers for she, John Moran, and their families
Nicely done article, MS!

I am going to say it this country has forgotten what happened on 9/11 you see it everyday. I really believe if we were attacked like on 12/7/1941 people would try and give us a reason not to attack Japan. I think GOD that the world wide web was not around.
Am I the only one that feels this way?
To: Mr. Silverback
Well done, tough to read and miss these freepers, but you did such a great job with this tribute.

I wasn't on Free Republic then but Barbara's death was the one that made it personal for me.I had cheered her many times on Fox news. It still hurts so much. Whenever some moron starts on on the 9/11 conspiracy crap I ask them "Where is Barbara?" no answer yet but at least they tend to shut up. Great piece Mr. Silverback, thank you.
