Iraqi authorities hanged 27 convicted "terrorists" on Wednesday, the interior ministry announced.

"Twenty-seven terrorists were hanged today in Baghdad. Most of them were Iraqis," interior ministry spokesman Abdul Karim Khalaf told AFP.

The authorities reinstated the death penalty which was abolished after the US-led invasion of March 2003.

No, you only get 72 allah-nuggies for being hanged for terrorism. Go stand in the corner and recite a thousand times:

"Dirka Dirka, Muhammed Jihad"

If the Iraqis apprehend any of the Western journalists who are meeting with terrorists, would anyone have a problem if the Iraqi government sentenced them to death as enemies of the state?

Not in the slightest.
By Iraqis I assume you meant the legitimately elected government, not the rebels.

Clarity.

Perhaps they are practicing for Saddam.

Let us hope, it is three years past time for the sob to meet his 72 virgins.

Not if we see them coming. Remember, we still have the Second Amendment and we aren't afraid to use it, ma'am.

Woo Hoo!!! With that piece of news, too bad Bush charted a tribunal course today. Visualize this coming from the White House:
"As you know, in the process of freeing the Iraqi people from the clutches of a madman, we have captured many dangerous enemy combatants who were operating outside the Geneva Convention and the Rules of War. We have been holding them in safe places including Club Gitmo. Now that the people of Iraq have established a functioning government, as indicated by their hanging of 27 criminals, we feel it is time to turn over to them the prisoners captured on their territory. May God have mercy on their souls."
How many spontaneous confessions and pleas for asylum would we get?

Correct. As in "Iraq hangs...". As in "after trial".

No vigilantism. By law.

Nice use of quotation marks.
... the “sentence” of the “Court” upon you is, that you be taken from this “place” to a lawful “prison”, and thence to a place of “execution,” and that you be there “hanged” by the “neck” until you are “dead”; and that your “body” be afterwards “buried” within the “precincts” of the “prison” in which you shall have been “confined” before your “execution.” And may the “Lord” have “mercy” upon your “soul.”

Reminds me a few years ago when I was visiting my parents out on Long Island (I live in New York city)...I had to make a transfer from one train to the other at one point, and while waiting for the next train, I bought a copy of Newsday, which is primarily a Long Island newspaper. On about the 2nd or 3rd page, they had an article about an US Iraq war vet who was returning home to his family on Long Island after losing his foot from an IED. Newsday saw it fit to put as the headlines..

Long Island "hero" returns home.

Now just think about that....Here is this guy who will probably need some kind of assistance to walk for the rest of his life, yet he is proud of what he did, he is proud of his service, and naturally he will want to save mementos of that service. Yet here comes the absolute gall of this F-ING sh*trag "Newsday" questioning right off the bat whether he is a hero or not. This is just like Vietnam, it`s unreal. All the returning Vets being spit on and kicked, it makes me sick to my guts!

Why the quote marks? Do these same journalists talk about Democratic "Congressmen"?

I wonder why this 'news organization' decided to use quotes around 'terrorists'.

Because one mans "terrorist" is another Democrats "freedom fighter"

But the most important terrorist remains alive.

I'm not sure what your point is. That we can't make any progress against the terrorist networks until we catch and kill bin Laden?

Because if that's your point, that's absurd.

The French press always puts "" around Terrorist -- since they consider them potential customers in the cafes in Paris ---- Soon.

Already - the round heeled French women are looking forward to the opportunity of sleeping with WINNERS again...

Wow you read a lot into my post.

My point was that Saddam reamins alive three years after his capture.
