Looks like CBS got itself a two-fer. Katie's not just an anchor - she's a comedian, too!
The highlight of her extended interview with Harry Smith on this morning's Early Show, touting her debut on tonight's CBS Evening News, was her claim that what the "old media" has to offer in contrast with the new media is . . . "integrity and standards."
Couric is apparently a jokester of the deadpan school, managing to get off the line without dissolving into guffaws. This from the woman about to take over the illustrious Dan Rather Forged Document Chair, named in honor of the hoax perpetrated by the old media and peremptorily exposed by that lacking-in-integrity new media. Is the irony lost on Katie that the opening for her job occured because Dan Rather was sacked over the exposure of his lack of integrity and standards?
Would Katie care for a more recent example? Take the way the MSM trumpeted L'Affaire Plame for more than a year, only to bury the story unceremoniously when it turned out that rather than representing a diabolical Bush administration plot to out a CIA agent, an anti-war State Department official was behind the disclosure.
Katie's rib-tickler arose in the context of a chat apparently conducted on Harry's apartment balcony overlooking Central Park. Smith observed that for the first time the Evening News would be available online for viewing at any time. Replied Couric:
"I don't really see it as a fight between old media and new media. I think old media has a lot to offer even if we are old. And I think that some of the integrity and the standards and the great reporting that you find in traditional mainstream media, to give that an outlet in newer technological forms, is only a positive thing for everybody."
Katie will be performing all week - don't forget to tip your waitress!
Early Show/NewsBusters Couric-the-comedian ping to Today show list.
Couric is the second coming of Jesus.....
I guess actually following the standards comes at some later date.
When does that Viera or whatever her name start on the Today Show? They have made her up to look eerily like Katee for her debut.
The MSM/DBM proving yet again they have no logic, but think they know what's best for us sheeple.
Do you know when Rush is supposed to be interviewed by Katie? It floored me that he agreed to appear on cBS with her. He's got some 'splainin to do! ;-)
The problem with the new media and fame. There isn't much to go around. The folks bringing us news from the "New Media" are, by and large, actually reporting news and digging into the news. They are not controlled and motivated by an add hungy corporation. They do not bring huge salaries. They are not on the cover of Time, Newsweek, etc. And they are not invited to the whitehouse for interviews with the president. Folks in the old media don't acutally do anything more than speak in front of a TV camera or click and paste a story in print.
Vieira's Today show debut is September 13th.
S P E W alert!
LOL at your report this morning!!! I almost wish I'd seen it for myself, Katie and Harry on an extended pimpfest for the new and improved, (make that heretofore unheard of), CBS "integrity and standards". We know for certain now, Katie will change nothing about CBS Evening News. If "integrity and standards" were in play, she would have honestly discussed why she even got this gig, and how she planned to revamp the CBS image which is so blighted by past biased and dishonest reporting. She could have done that without even mentioning Rather, but noooooooooooooo, she didn't.
They do have integrity and standards...its just that they are those of the Huns.
So she's admitting they don't have any?
LOL ....... very low standards bordering on sedition. Ah, glgb, throw out the borders..... they are truly ruthlessly, unabashedly anti-American.
****
The socialist/marxist/liberal media is the most destructive, relentless, and ruthless enemy of this Republic.
****
Obviously CBS doesn't think their new newsbabe can carry the news all by herself. She needs a cast of characters to divert attention from her own lack of intelligence and gravitas.
Finklestein comes off as who he is rather smartly.
Brother can you spare another stingray?
Actually, I am breathlessly awaiting Rosie's arrival on The View...........NOT
I would not tune in even if I was curious. As far as I'm concerned, SeeBS is biased and Couric only enforces that perception.
LOL....in the cutie catie's dreams! This gal is such a lightweight.
