Irwin video may be made public

STEVE Irwin's grieving wife Terri will have the final say on whether footage of his last moments alive is made public.

The head of the US TV company that broadcasts his show said today the film had already been handed to Queensland police preparing a report for the Coroner as fans worldwide come to grips with the freak death.

Billy Campbell, the president of Discovery Networks, which owns the Animal Planet channel, said it was far too early to decide what footage viewers would see from Irwin's fatal trip on the Great Barrier Reef.

Talks would take place with Terri at a suitable time, he said.

"It's still too early," Mr Campbell said. "We'll have to take a look at it."

Irwin suffered a deadly blow from a stingray yesterday while shooting footage for a new show he was doing with his eight-year-old daughter, Bindi.

Mr Campbell, who will fly to Australia for Irwin's funeral, said he would also ask Terri whether she would like Bindi's show to go ahead.

"In terms of the Bindi show, a lot of that will depend on the conversations I have with Terri in a couple of days," he said.

"I want to give her a few days to mourn and think through things. "We'll talk about that in due time.

It seems he had a regular tight knit film crew that loved him. I don't think it would get out very easily, unless the police mishandle it.

That's reasonable, and I hope you're right.

The problem will be with those who own the rights of the film.
The other problem is some ass in production leaking it to the Internet.

I don't care what Terri does with the video of Steve's death, but I don't plan to watch it if it is released. I'm sure there will be many who will want to see it and will. To each their own.

Hannity and Colmes with Rich Lowry in for Sean..is talking about this.

I hate that Alan is ragging one of the guests about Steve holding his baby near the crocodile that one time..sheesh.

He hasn't even been dead for a whole day...and these shows have to find a "controversy"..ugh

We all loved Steve and are so sorry that this happened. As for the tape if it's out there than it will be up to each one of us to choose whether or not to view it. If Terri doesn't want it to be broadcast than I hope it isn't.

Rest in peace, Steve.

There are some who would pay to see it. Terri deserves the money if she can stand to let it be shown. We should let her do it without additional hardship. (Funerals are expensive, and I'm not sure how insurable he was)

I read where Steve wanted his death to be filmed if it should happen.

Sad that they would try to measure the worth of a man by one incident.

They disgust me.

Yeah, and he said it would show the animal to be innocent, just doing what animals do.

He was making several million dollars a year. You do not have to worry about funeral expenses.

This is true. I don't know if I will watch if they do it, but I really do believe it could be done in a respectful way. I hope they can keep the tape under tight wraps until Terri decides what to do.

I can't disagree with that really.

So is the US media. Tonight- Hannity and Colmes has the whole LIVE show devoted to him...Larry King is showing the last interview he had with Steve, and the interview shows with he and Terri are on Animal Planet.

A great fellow- full of love, life and great humor.

OMG, he pulled the barb out himself! Wow. What a man. Those backwards barbs are said to be the most dangerous part. Oh, this is so sad.

Oh my god, it says he pulled out the barb himself? I know I wouldn't want to see that.

CPR isn't effective on traumatic injuries with internal bleeding. All CPR does is circulate the blood to keep the body supplied with oxygen. If there's a hole in the heart, the blood just runs out into the body cavity. From the description of the injury, I can't imagine anything doing any good. He could have been laying on the operating table of the best hospital in the world when he got an injury like that, and he was gone.

They're saying he was hit by a 2.5 meter stingray, that's over eight feet long. It's been stated numerous times on all the posts, but it seems so strange, after all the stuff he did, for him to go out snorkeling in five foot deep water.
