As the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, approaches, the date has become synonymous with the image of wanton destruction. And in addition to the massive loss caused by the attacks, they spawned another form of unrelenting damage -- a host of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories implicating the Jews and Israel in the bloodshed.
These canards have not been fleeting expressions of paranoid fantasy that dissipate once they have been debunked. On the contrary, even today the various "Jews-did-it" scenarios emanating from the wreckage of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon have proven stubbornly resilient.
"If anything, they're flourishing," said Chip Berlet, senior analyst at Political Research Associates, a liberal think-tank based in Somerville, Mass. The idea that Jews were somehow involved in Sept. 11 has now become a permanent feature in the conspiracy pantheon, like the JFK assassination and the Oklahoma City bombing," said Mark Pitcavage, director of fact finding for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).
The Internet is the chief incubator and disseminator of apocryphal Sept. 11 story lines, and cyberspace remains awash with chatter purporting to link the Jews with America's worst terrorist attacks, according to Pitcavage. But the same message, he added, also is being spread through books, pamphlets, videos and speakers. The practical impact of this phenomenon remains unclear.
The purveyors are an eclectic aggregation that spans the geopolitical spectrum. They include neo-Nazis and other white supremacists in the United States and elsewhere, anti-government zealots, young anti-war activists, Holocaust deniers, Lyndon Larouche supporters, New Age ideologues, propagandists and journalists within the Arab and Muslim world, as well as assorted devotees of the early 20th-century forgery "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," which purports to document a Jewish plan to dominate the world.

(No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo! )
Gotta blame it on somebody. Blaming it on fanatical, Islamo Fascists would be considered "racist" and it would really hurt their feelings. Terrorists are really "sensitive" don't you know.
(No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo! )
somethings just stay the same...
for 5 million or so people, where do they get all the time to manage these conspiracies..i find it difficult to get up in the morning, can i blame the joooooosssss....
totally agree with u
I also agree with what you said.
We should find it very troubling that much of the world seems ready to re-start the Holocaust. Kofin Annan is no lover of Israel and when he went on his recent Middle East trip: every nation he visited but Israel said "trust me. We'll enforce UN Resolution 1701." But not one nation gave any form of believability......
Kofi Annan: Taken For a Ride by Iran

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan completed a ten day, six-plus nation Middle East peace trip on Sunday to ensure compliance by all with UN Resolution 1701, the document governing the disarmament of Hezbollah and provisions to keep Lebanon peaceful.
The trip took an unhappy excursion on its last day as Mr. Annan was not just mildly insulted by Irans President Ahmadinejad. Even though Mr. Annan, before his arrival in Iran, told the news media that he was not in favor of sanctions against Iran for that nations failure to abide by UN Resolutions governing nuclear development, Iran announced that it would host an investigation into the validity of the Holocaust.
Mr. Annnan had personally asked President Ahmadinejad to refrain from provoking Israel and the rest of the world by hosting the event.
President Ahmadinejad ignored the Secretary General and announced he will procede anyway.
In other developments during Mr. Annans trip:
Syria said that it will not allow UN multi-national forces on its border to ensure that Hezbollah is not re-armed. Syria said they would patrol the border with its own army.
No nation agreed to disarm Hezbollah. Lebanon, France and the UN itself demured on the issue.
Mr. Annnan insisting upon (in fact, demanded) that Israel lift the blockade of Lebanon. Prime Minister Olmert said he would lift the embargo when the terms of UN Resolution 1701 are in place.
It would be extremely difficult to term Mr. Annans trip a success. In fact, it is difficult to recall an international travel experience of any prior UN Secretary General that achieved fewer of its goals.
This was a miserable display of diplomacy by any standard.

With the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks fast approaching, the government has busied itself with answering questions raised by conspiracy theorists who fervently believe that the World Trade Center towers had help in their destruction. The State Department and the National Institue of Stantards and Technology both released reports this week proving once again that when big airplanes loaded with jet fuel plow into skyscrapers, it tends to destroy the buildings: The full report, released a year ago, and the new study, in a question and answer format, are available online at http://wtc.nist.gov. The State Department report can be found at this link. Rick Moran at Right Wing Nuthouse applauds the government's efforts to respond to the conspiracy nuts, but deplores the need for it:
"I think fear drives a lot of this, After all if it is Bush and a few other dangerous people, then all of this will be over when he is gone. It is safe to go after Bush....They refuse to believe Americans were targeted because they are Americans, Israelis because they're, well, Jews actually, and that Death stalks us all..."

In my left hand I have the WTC. In my right hand, I have "Da Joos!" Now watch as I re-enact how "Da Joos" brought down the towers...nyyyyyyaaaahhhh...BOOM!
I think this was her exact congressional testimony. ; )

The barking moonbats at least meet the need of providing thinking Americans with non-stop comedy relief.
What alarms me is the incredible amount of self-hatred among these people. Certainly they find other outlets such as Anti-Semitic and Anti-Christ behavior, but most people at least have enough decency to keep it out of the public arena. To base a political movement on such hate is inconceivable, at least since Nazi Germany.
The fact that we continue to tolerate such horrid behavior in public by allowing it to penetrate into public debate shows how vulnerable we are as a society, as a people. It is certainly a cause for major concern and enough to make one wonder what sort of world they are raising their children in. We must take action to eliminate such hatred from our culture, or the world we leave for our children may differ little from the one that Hitler envisioned.
I think this be sh$t and this be shinola!!! Not sure. Gotta get me a job.
Damn her.....I've been looking for my Sponge Bob all week!
Just leave it to Abe Foxman's ADL to obfuscate the truth on antisemitic incidents, groups, and individuals. (Imagine the chutzpah to call their spokesperson "director of fact finding"!)
Equating in any way the nonsense that Jews conspired to perpetrate 9/11, on the one hand, with the many reasoned theories about the JFK assination and Oklahoma City that happen not to fit the official government stories, on the other, is pure foolishness. The reality is that some conspiracy theories in the latter two cases are supported by by much factual evidence, whereas the involvement of "the Jews" in 9/11 is not. Seems like the ADL can't resist the temptation to equate legitimate opponents of government "conclusions" in the JFK and OC cases with the antisemitic nutcases trying to take the onus away from the obvious Islamic terrorist perpetration of 9/11 by blaming it on Israel or Jews.

That being said, the voters in her district should be congratulated for seeing to it that Ms. McKinney is currently a "lame duck." However, she was defeated previously and returned again, so there's no guarantee that she won't be back in the future.
