I think that the issue with doing as you suggest would not have the intended results. How many times did the Clintons wail that they were being picked on (when in fact they were inoculating themselves from the consequences of an honest investigation). The old ways will backfire -- look how the otherwise inept Clintons made a career of being "brilliant" politicians, when in fact, they could only work using the old ways to their advantage.
It's right to make a correction, but by making forcefully as you suggest, the sympathies of the HBM will rally round the lying Wilsons and Armitage. Tony has done a marvellous job in holding the press to account in such a way as to defuse liberal critics of the traditional "Republicans are mean" charges.

The awful thing in this is that Scooter Libby could still go down for this unless miraculously the case is dismissed.

Aaarrrg, Casey is on MTP saying that we were lied to about Iraq. It was JOE WILSON who lied about Iraq. They are just going to go on and on with this even though it has been proven false.
Casey turns to Santorem and asks if he will call on Rummy to resign. Santorem says no, he's done a fine job. I now forgive him for Spector.

Listening to wabc radio, Religion On The Line, this morning. They are going to have on Peter King to discuss "Death of A President".
I called in and they let me chat with them for about 4 or five minutes about it. I borrowed some of the thoughts from the various threads and comments.
This place is so cool.

Local broadcaster is messing with their broadcast, and they still can't seem to get it right. They've been at it over a week.
NBC affiliate channel shows 'no signal' this morning, but they also now broadcast Fox channel, so FNS now comes on at the same time MTP does.

Come and tell the story. It's a wonderful story... Sounds almost as if he's talking about the birth of Jesus... you know... the prophet he followed before he joined Islam.

I think what is more likely is that we have more information about him. He can work to redeem himself, but at this point it's hard to see that he thinks that he did anything that would undermine his credibility, honor and reputation.

That 's their talking point, Bahbah. I don't understand why republicans agree for debate on MTP, especially after Russert became so transparent in attacking us.

What the heck is DBM? Drive By Media. They drive up spray a target with bullets they squeal away from the victim. Rush Limbaugh coined this term to describe their tactics since 2000. There have been dozens and dozens of examples where the media slimes a political target only months or years later for us to find the "News Media" has was totally wrong in their reporting on the subject. Valarie Plame is just the longest running example of this tactic.

I think Tony is great too, but when was the last time Republicans in this Administration stuffed something down their opponents throats? GWB is too much a gentleman. Even Rummy backed off his comments of this week. Tony has the perfect approach and temperament to mock the medias silence on their "golden goose" of a story that for ONE WEEK now has gone ignored once the shell broke leaving egg on their face.

The axe to grind IMHO is Iraq - rightly or wrongly he feels duped over Iraq and feels whatever he says to others "privately" is OK. He says these things knowing they will be leaked.
It is very sad I am struck very much by a more human story in this. In Mary Cheney's book she publicly thanks Alma Powell for providing the Cheney family with a Thanksgiving Meal when her father was hospitalized and unable to organise it. It is personal relationships like this that get destroyed when one acts in this bitter and resentful way that Powell has.

wow, Peter King is saying that the muslim community in his district are actively working against his re election. The head of a mosque, who claims the Zionist are the ones who blew up the world trade center, is donating to his opponent.
I guess it is time to send Peter King some money.

Regardless of his or Armitage's political views about the Iraqi war, they allowed a monstrous lie to grow for years.
Their silence subverted Truth and was/is dishonorable and immoral.
Public disclosure and humiliation is not enough punishment for undermining the Administration's effort to protect all of us. This behavior used to be called treason.
