Great take sleuth, The DNC thinks they can control all their candidates and still win(if they fund them they own them) they are as naive as are most of their candidates.

IMO, the WH did not know who the leaker was and was waiting for the SP office to come out with that info. To do otherwise would given the appearance that they (the WH) was attempting to influence the SP. Lets face it, in having to deal with the DNC and DBM, it was a "Damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation.

Not without doing more research than I'm willing to do right now. I have other things demanding my time. But, I keep remembering numerous instances of both leaks and stories on how employees are pushing agendas over administration policies. In fact, you probably know more examples than I do.

Any career employee who openly expresses opposition to administration policies will be disciplined or forced to resign. In the very few cases that I am aware of, career employees have resigned in protest.

In Washington, every agency develops its institutional views based on their mission and perspective. They then must compete with other agencies in getting their views or "agenda" adopted. The State Department. DOD, CIA, etc. all engage in leaks and bureaucratic in-fighting. It is the nature of the "game." It is not nefarious.

Agreed. But I rarely hear of conservatives betraying an administration over political differences, which are continuous events with liberal appointees.

It happens in every administration. O'Neill, Christine Todd Whitman , and "Brownie" are examples of Bush appointees who have gone off the reservation. There will be more after he leaves office.

It was not a Republican who put up the Gorelick seperation wall in the FBI. It was not a conservative who leaked the Plame information.

It was a Bush appointee who leaked the Plame information--Richard Armitage.

Boy -- talk about buying into the liberal dem spin put forth by Larry Johnson and Jason Leopold (are you one of them)? The judge has said several key things in this case:

1. Cooper's testimony is impeachable.
2. Miller's testimony is impeachable.

Russert was NEVER required to testify to anyone under oath. He never appeared before the Grand Jury. The one issue that remains open is the Russert/Libby conversation. Seems that this may end up only as a bad memory thing, given the revelation of Woodward's. Libby may have confused Russer with Woodward.

I would guess that the whole thing will be dismissed in a matter of days if not weeks. Fitzy will be in trouble. Fitzy is the liar, he lied to the courts, he lied to the public.

I don't know malia....from all I have read, Powell was very aware of what Armitage had done...and did not notify Bush about that.

We will see IF there is every a trial...

I DO want the Wilson's lawsuit to go forward...and have all of the players called to testify.

Maybe after you appear before a grand jury and are told by the prosecutor not to talk about the case, we will see how brave you are"

Answer: No one speaking before a grand jury is prevented from speaking about their own testimony. The special counsel may request this, but they cannot enforce this request.

Cowards all--Novak, Armitage, Ashcroft and Powell. They all knew the truth but let others needlessly suffer reputational and financial losses. They could have acted like men but they didn't. Also, don't forget while Novak kept quiet, made his bucks on TV Judith Miller went to jail. What a guy! Only good for shooting in the back. Confront them with losing their power and priveleges and they whimper and whine and decline to do anything risky.

Great points. You have to have a pool to draw those special forces guys from. Course after they become all these sterile mission special forces the TraitorcRats will handcuff them so they can't do what their trained to do.

I think that Meet the Press is replayed at 10:00 EDT. on MSNBC...

I would never recommend it except that I was very impressed with Rick Santorum today...not only did he debate well...he mostly stayed true to his real record of backing Bush's agenda...and only pointed out a few times he felt differently..

BUT, during those times...he showed where he, personally, put up legislation to try to make changes he really believed in...he didn't just sit back and complain about President Bush, he WORKED to do something else.

If you have a chance, maybe you could watch it later..

Novak has hated the Bushies since before Reagan. They just aren't DC types in his wacked mind. He is a shining example of The Dinosaur Press. He loved watching GW and Rove swinging in the wind.

But let's not forget Fitz' role in all of this. He knew it was Armitage well before his "baseball" press conference. There was no reason for this investigation at all, yet he persisted.

He is the true villain and he's joining the ranks of reprehensible prosecutors that we've seen recently.

Mostly at night I go on a self imposed television news blackout; I sleep better :-)

But I might tape it and watch it tomorrow.

That's one thing I don't mind - when politicians can disagree without getting ugly and put up a reasonable alternative.

I take it you have read the indictment as well as Libby's lawyers response, so neither you nor I should be "ignorant". Your conclusions are valid if one believes the prosecutor's version of events without any cross examination, test of the evidence, or defense case. But one man's or woman's lie can be another's faulty memory (as I recall, this was the administration's primary defense from about 1995-2000, in many cases).

And your belief in Russert (Russert says he never discussed it with Libby and couldnt have because he was stunned when he read Novak's column because he didnt know) is...well, I'll leave it at that. From what I can tell, Russert is perpetually stunned merely by his own intellectual defects.

Mark Rich could use the good company of a pardoned Libby. I would guess that the prosecutor's house of cards will tumble long before a pardon would be necessary. But then, I don't presume to be the prosecutor, judge, and jury.

Sometimes I think wives tend to not want to believe things even if they are true about their husband.

I suspect this is one of these cases but one wonders how many friends among wives of those close to the Administration no longer call her.
