Catch MTP this morning? Casey's suit is empty, I mean a big void. It's no longer any wonder whe he won't debate Santorum on a more frequent basis.

I think it is too late to change the movie, 4 days isn't much time to change a $ 40 million project.

Reading it again, today, it's amazing how little has been learned by the Amarican people in the last 40yrs. Politicians on the other hand.....well, they're politicians. That says it all.

For all of those Joe Gibbs/NASCAR/Redskins fan's. Joe is going to be on Mike Wallace at 5:00 on FNC. A change from the usual politics. Joe will be talking about his work with underprivileged youth.

He went though really hard times as a child, and is now paying back.

Even though I said I wouldn't watch it, I am watching Late Edition. They have a fire alarm going off in the background when Elain Chau is on. Too funny....is this yet another intentional blunder by CNN to interrup a republican speaking? Or is it just another coincidence/mistake like the big Black X over Cheney, the "accidental" early showing of one of Bush's speeches (practice session), or the bathroom discussion during the President's recent speech?

"Someone should explain to this idiot the difference between fighting a conventional Total War against a defined nation state with fixed geographical goals and an fighting an asymmetrical threat from a hard to locate, geogrpahically unfixed underground political movement."

My goodness MNJohnnie. Just look at the ABSOULTELY, SPOT ON, analysis that is filled with such intellect that you have to know there is no way a guy like Juan would have a chance at understanding what you just pointed out.

I would have to assume, if you were on the panel, that Mr Williams would have no choice but to blubber like a little baby because darnit!!!! Your smarter and thats not fair!

Not only that I was worried he wouldn't be able to answer the residency question but he did and was very sincere. Can this guy make a monumental comeback and possibly run for president? He was spot on!

Couldn't ONE of these shows bring in Joe Wilson this weekend?

You do realize that these shows cant FORCE anyone to appear? You dont know if he or anyone involved with Plame controversy was asked. Personally, I think he would be stupid to appear as his law suit is already in serious jeopardy. :-)

#249, someone should have a tracking device on those two and see if they are connecting up so that they keep their BS stories straight. They must feel like they are in a strait jacket for two, with zero, nada wiggle room. They deserve to be ostracized and I wonder if McCain is having second thoughts about any participation they might have in his run for the Roses. I believe that most Conservatives were not going to support Mccain before this, and this makes it really, truly unlikely. We are certainly not stuck on stupid.

That is great news...thanks for pinging me..

I have a feeling that Chrissy's show will go down worse, now that he doesn't have Plamegate to blather about every single night.

NOW, I have to go back and read the rest of the thread...LOL

In theory you're right. In practice, the State Department has followed their own agenda for years.

You may know more about practice than I do. I only spent 28 years working for the organization. Based on my experience, the WH and NSC as well as some intelligence agencies and DOD have more to do with making US foreign policy than the State Department. What do you mean specifically about following "their own agenda?"

The problem is getting rid of career types in State versus administration department heads who change at least every 8 years, and usually within 4.

The vast majority of people in the State Deparment are "career types." The same holds true for DOD and the CIA. The country needs a career bureaucracy for continuity and the development of expertise. US national interests don't change with administrations, just emphasis.

Add to this the problem of past administrations packing partisan employees into these departments, and overcoming the problems this creates is a huge endeavor.

This is another myth. Check out the Plum Book to see how few political jobs there really are. And with every change in adminisitrations, people holding these jobs must put in their resignations. The real issue is "burrowing in", i.e., political appointees who try to compete for career jobs through the normal appointment procedures. The numbers are very small, but there have been cases where individuals have converted from non-career to career positions.

"The GAO review found that 23 agencies converted 144 individuals from non-career to career positions during the time period studied. They ranged in salary from about $31,000 to $146,000 annually. (In the similar review of the Clinton administration, which ran from October 1998 through April 2001, the GAO found 100 appointees who had been converted to career status.)

For the Bush administration years, the GAO examined 130 conversions at the General Schedule 12 or higher pay levels, finding that 37 did not follow normal hiring practices. The GAO determined that 18 were improper, and could not find enough information about the rest to render any judgment.

I give a lot of credit to Rice and Rumsfeld. They have done more to clean house than most department heads.

They can't clear out anyone who is occupying a career position except by abolishing the job [RIF], which still allows the individual occupying the job to "retreat" to other positions. What specifically has Condi done to "clean house?"

Thanks for the links Anita!

I especially enjoyed the whine-fest of brian (cry me a river) Williams. This time he complains about security restrictions at his hotel and how it wasn't like this when klintoon was prez.

Brian, if it wasn't for Dhimmicrats like you rationalizing away overt threats of assassination against your president, maybe security wouldn't have to be so high!

This twit goes on in excruciating detail about how inconvenienced he was.

Imagine in your tiny little brain how "inconvenient" it is for the President to have to go through these extra machinations in order to simply go about his daily routine, much less conduct business.

Oh, and Brian, I seem to recall an incident where klintoon and his staff locked down an entire international airport for 90 minutes or so in order that he be able to get a haircut. So take your phony outrage and jam it!

I'm also reading a book written in the 1920's about the Civil War Reconstruction and I finished one on the period between the Revolutionary war and when the constitution was adopted. Talk about de ja vue! Issues have not changed much.

No, his lying cost him his reputation. Libby only one indicted, because he lied.
