Powel is a politcian, he was doing it to position himself. He is a jimmy carter bureacrat and should allways be seen as such.

The only good to come of this is to eliminate him from the WH.

The Republican party needs me. I used to be a liberal. Liberal's minds don't work right. Republicans are guilty of thinking they play fair but get a clue, they don't

Ever think maybe this is why NO openly Liberal has won a National Election since LBJ? Maybe the "use to be a Liberal" crowd and the Terrified of the Junk Media crowd MIGHT want to consider WHY that side keeps losing elections? I seriously doubt their is any benefit for the political winners in adopting the political losers tactics.

We will all be watching ABC come Sept. 10th and 11th....Live Thread. I understand that at a previewing, Bena Vista got into the face of the producer demanding that the film be 'edited'. HA

A number of old wise PA Freepers told me about 8 months ago that Casey would lead in the polls right up to the point he had to open his mouth. I think Casey sliminess is why Santorum has pretty much closed the gap in the polls despite being double digits behind at one point.

What I don't understand is why there is so much surprise?  Powell has always been a darling of the media and RINO's who like his social liberalism.  Powell did a poor job of reforming the State Department and Condi Rice has been a lot better, as well as Bolton at the UN.

I can understand the press lamenting the failure of Powell but not conservatives. I believe Powell should be held to the same standards as anyone else, and he has some explaining to do.

I would suspect & believe that Russert is the person lying here

Anita,

I'm working from memory here but this is how I *think* it came down.

Russert testified that he asked Libby about Plame and he said Libby verified on some level that Plame was Wilson's wife and worked at the CIA.

Bob Woodward talked to Libby on the same day although no one interviewed Woodward from Fitzgerald's prosecutor's office from hell. Bob Woodward said that "someone else" (Armitage) told him about Plame and that he had talked to Scooter that same day and Libby did not mention Plame.

Popular wisdom is that Libby talked to both Woodward and Russert that day. Libby testified that he hadn't mentioned Plame to Russert, directly opposite to what Russert testified. Libby might very well have been confused as to what he said to who, mixing up the Woodward interview with Russert or visa-versa.

Or Libby could just have denied ever having revealed Natasha Plame's job to anyone because, well, hey, HE DIDN'T!

Fitzgerald, the runaway prosecutor from hell, chose to believe Tim Russert because...go with me here, Fitzgerald had an agenda and a desire to achieve a specific result.

More speculation, I recall that on the day the world was buzzing that Rove was about to be indicted by Fitzgerald was near to the time that Woodward went public and declared that he too had learned of Plame's status and waaaaay before Libby et al had allegedly revealed it.

I think the admin told Woodward if he didn't get out there and make the pronouncement that he would not be a contender to write Bush's biography. Hey, pure speculation on my part but we all know Woodward's working that White House to get access to the big stories. The admin had to respond to keep Rove from being marched off and this was the only way they could stop Fitzgerald.

I think that for now the admin is going to allow the civil courts to do the revenge deed for Libby although frankly I think the manly men of congress should take a stand and fire Fitzgerald toot de sweet.

As Brit pointed out today, it has now been a week and neither Armitage nor Powell has spoken: "They've done NOTHING" about their allowing this fiasco going on for 3 years.

Good morning Morgan and great catch as usual.

I have noticed the White house Press corps has tempered their vitriol since Tony has been on the job.

Once the DBM has any foe at all they melt like the cheap suits they are in reality.

serious about "soaking the rich," he should advocate taxing wealth, not income

But that is why all the Trust Fund Babies and gigialos like Kennedy, Kerry, Rockerfeller, Huffington et al are Democrats. They aren't intrested in sharking the Rich because they are the rich. They want to tax NEW money not break up the concentrations of capital of the OLD money rich.

I seriously doubt their is any benefit for the political winners in adopting the political losers tactics.

Maybe.

But for sure there's no crime in KNOWING what your enemy is doing and judging by how Bush handled this Plame scam, sometimes I don't think he has a clue.

And there's certainly no crime in demanding that the opposition play fair and DEFENDING yourself. Hey, it's a miracle the pubbies managed to gain power at all with all the cheating going on. As it is, John Kerry, one of the sorriest and poorest excuses of a human being as on the planet, got waaaaaay more votes than he ever would have gotten were it not for the cheating.

Not to mention Al Gore.....

"That is exactly how he (Casey) comes across."

If Rick and Casey have any televised debates coming up, and Rick does even HALF as good as he did on MTP today, I'd purchase it on PPV if offered !!
