Brit is about the only example of a real Journalist left in the world.

I think Brit is outraged like us here. On Fox roundtable couple of days ago, everyone agreed with that view and Nina Easton came close to saying she could not believe how Armitage is digesting his food or something of that sort.

Thanks, Fishtalk. All valid points.

Tim Russert was managing the news on NBC & MSNBC and they were trying to cover him including himself on his own CNBC show, which many found bizarre at that time.

Tony hasn't commented on this (Plame/Wilson) because he has been on vacation. I believe he will be back on Tuesday, and expect to hear him comment on this next week.

refer the case to Justice for prosecution

Maybe, but not the Prez.
That was Gonzales' job as White House Counsel.
He did his job. Alberto said no we don't need to be in the loop. No, we don't need to know who and yes send it to Justice.
Any criminal behavior I think the first instinct is to protect the Prez and keep him away from the situation.

#155, Schumer should look in his own bedroom(if that is where she allows him to sleep)to his wife Iris Weinshall if he wants to look at a dastardly deed. Weinshall is and has been the head of the NY DOT and was reprimanded by the Coast Guard in their Investigation of the horrific Staten Island Ferry Crash. She was not held accountable and many people died and many others were horribly maimed. She kowtowed to the Unions and spent more time worrying about the cleanliness of the Bathrooms on the Ferry than Public safety and responsibility. She should have lost her job and been blackballed. She also should have faced a Grand Jury for negligence, and incompetence. She did not just come on Board like GWB for 9-11,she was firmly ensconced in the Job with the backing of the Mayor. Every time Schumer opens his mouth he lies, and he should have this and other matters thrown up in his face like his Identity stealing top employees at his DSCC.

Yes, the entire dynamic is shifting before their non-seeing eyes.

Off to church now.

I may disagree with Santorum on some issues but at least you know where the man stands. Casey seems like he doesn't have a clue at all.

Powell's and Armitage's continuing silence I see as being like ostriches w/their heads in the sand, letting their Hate Bush media allies keep saying "Nevermind", "Old news", and/or "Let's move on" enough times that they'll be able to uncover their heads and keep on being the liberal darlings.

And that is the big question? What will he do after GW's term is up?

You're so easy.  We'll just elect someone even better than GW. ROFLOL

I agree that State doesn't make policy and that it's neither autonomous nor a monolith. But I will add that it is a leviathan and the ability to clean house is challenging. State provides research and it's not unusual for the researcher's predilections from seeping into support documentation.

Liviathan? I worked in the State Department for 28 years and felt that we were the Lilliputians.

I am not saying that State controls policy or the WH. What I am saying is that there is a contingent in State that works to undermine this administration's approach.

This alleged "contingent" reports to the politically appointed leadership. What are the manifestations of the undermining you refer to?

"Powell's involvement has to really sting since we all know how the President puts loyalty above all else. I bet he knew about Powell's traitorous ways before the Plame Blame scam."

I think Colin Powel was out of his element, his comfort zone, and his area of expertise as Secretary of State. He had excelled in the military with all its structure, and stability and honor. He probably believed (hoped) that State was also an honorable beauracracy that respected the chain of command. Like a lot of retired military people, he was in culture shock when he got to State and found himself swimming with the sharks.

Your key remark substantiated with additional comments is this:

Iraq is that kill zone. That is the true brilliance of the Iraq strategy.

Why don't more people get this? It is spot-on, and was evidenced by several things. When the President said "bring it on" he meant what he said. He positioned our troops in Iraq so the terrorists would go there and we could kill them. The media, the dems (I know; same thing) simply cannot grasp this kind of strategy because they just don't understand the threat and that we are in a real war. Their incessent arguments that the terrorists weren't there before we got there is true in a some measure. There was evidence of terrorists training in Iraq, but they were not there in large numbers. We went there so they would follow us there, and that most people just don't get this is astonishing to me.

I work in the military industrial community and work with many troops who have been to war and back again, and I have the utmost respect for them. They are so smart, so innovative, and so committed to their mission that it is heartwarming. Their frustration by the lies of old media and the understanding of how the terrorists are using our media to turn our country against them is understood. In fact, at a recent gathering, CNN was bashed by a senior general for their outrageous reporting. Of course, those comments are never aired or reflected upon by the media, because they don't want the country to know they (media) are working to undermine the war by the incessent negative reporting.

A very good post by you, btw.

For your edification, and thanks to tired of laundry, here's the letter to the editor from JOE WILSON since the Armitage revelations ... have a good laugh:

Joe Wilson responds to WaPo hatchet job Updated at 1:39 PM

Via email:

You may have seen this morning's editorial in the Post. It manages to recycle pretty much every lie and smear over the past three years in a last ditch effort to divert attention from the facts, and the role the Post itself played both in the march to war and in the leak (see Woodward).

I know many of you are better versed in Plamegate than either Valerie or I and I also know that some of you will be addressing the editorial.

I want to let you know how much Valerie and I continue to be buoyed by your support and your dedication to getting the truth out and holding the administration and its lackeys accountable for the terrible policies they have foisted on our country and on the world. We must keep fighting.

As you think about this, our website (Wilsonsupport.org) has a copy of the letter I sent to the SSCI when its report first came out, challenging some of its conclusions. The LeftCoaster has a terrific study by eriposte on the whole Niger forgery case from beginning to end. Firedoglake and the Next Hurrah both have highly informative analyses of the case by skilled researchers and former prosecutors. I recommend them all as resoruces to jog memories. by this afternoon, I expect that our own team will have an updated set of talking points to distribute for your use as well.

Each of you in one way or another has contributed to the public's (and in many cases our own) understanding of the issues from the beginning. Thank you for continuing to do so.

Joe Wilson

This administration could do with a few more Tonys

The Administration could use a few more PR Allies instead of the collection of political fraggers it currently has. Clinton got away with anything because his Echo Chamber would show up everywhere screaming what ever talking point the White House currently want said. The Democrats realized this and so sent their Seminary callers and talking heads out to personally attack the Conservative Pundits early in the Bush years as "Bushbots".

The Conservative movement fell hook, line and sinker for the Democrats diversion tactics. Even Rush has fell hook line and sinker for it. Now days when ever they defend Bush the Conservative punditry spends as MUCH time making excuses why they are defending the truth, or simply don't bother and join in the Bush sliming.

The fact of the matter is the modern Conservative movement is PR stupid and completely lost the ability to go on offensive. They spend all their times either join in with, or responding to, the Leftist Noise machine PR attacks. Dubai Ports is the best example of that incompetence. They simply fell for a Democrat Senate PR stunt whole hog. Politically that behavior is utterly stupid.

Conservative talking heads whine endlessly about Bush's approval numbers. MAYBE if they did not spend all their time shooting him in the back those numbers would NOT be so low.

I'd like to see Libby hire Mark Levin to go after everyone connected who lied or mislead everyone. Levin is the only one I can think of who has nailed these guys time after time.
