PARKLAND, Wash. -- The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is searching for five people who allegedly attacked a uniformed National Guardsmen walking along 138th Street in Parkland Tuesday afternoon.
The soldier was walking to a convenience store when a sport utility vehicle pulled up alongside him and the driver asked if he was in the military and if he had been in any action.
The driver then got out of the vehicle, displayed a gun and shouted insults at the victim. Four other suspects exited the vehicle and knocked the soldier down, punching and kicking him.
And during the assault the suspects called him a baby killer. At that point they got into the car and drove off and left him on the side of the road, Detective Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriffs Department told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.
The suspects were driving a black Chevy Suburban-type SUV.
This is something new for us, we have not had military people assaulted because they were in the military or somebody's opposition to a war or whatever, Troyer said.
The driver is described as a white male, 25-30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, heavy build, short blond hair, wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, and armed with a handgun.
The vehicle's passengers are described as white males, 20-25 years old. Some of the suspects wore red baseball hats and red sweatshirts during the attack.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and charging of the individuals involved. Informants can call 253-591-5959, and callers will remain anonymous.
Hezbocrats for sure.
Such things happened to my father when he returned from Vietnam. I've had a intense dislike for 'hippies' and antiwar types for as long as I can remember. On a side note; I'm a guy with long hair and people often get surprised when I start ranting on my hatred for hippies lol. Also when I see people in uniform I always go out of my way to thank them or give them a kind gesture. I picked up the tab of a uniformed military man at a bar. He seemed genuinely surprised when he saw who I was.
They were probably too busy trading high-fives around the newsroom to even think of it. I'm sure the DUmmies are celebrating this "victory against the Bush war machine."
Hate crime for sure; too bad active duty military isn't a protected "minority".
This should be a capital offense.
Each report will breed at least one copycat.
Slowly, but surely, we are moving toward a civil war.
That's a shame. What on earth is wrong with people?
5.56mm
I bet those red sweatshirts had a black "A" inside a circle on them also - conveniently left out of the report maybe?
The Red Anarchist movement has been a bit quiet lately in the progressive socialist republics of Wash, Ore, & Kal.
Does this qualify as a hate crime in Washington or does that only apply to democrat, socialist, communist, hippie, gay, black, minority, pro-abortion, tran-sexuals types. You know the majority type of the population there.
Look at this attack on a Guardsman...
During the next "support the troops" rally, does anyone want to ask the Code Pinkos and their ilk how they feel about this behaviour (given that they "love the troops, hate the war")?
Cheers!
Just find the next Pearl Jam concert in Seattle, the hoodlums are probably there.
If these people mysteriously disappear and are never heard from again, it won't bother me a bit.
I hope these Neanderthals - with apologies to the originals - are caught or 'found'. . .and are dealt an immediate Justice.
. . .from whomEVER and HOWever.
Just reading this is enough to make any reasonable. . .normal person. . .sick and ashamed.
Sounds like a hate crime to me.
In Israel their soldiers get to carry their weapons home at night.......
Parkland is practically my backyard. There is something missing from this story but I'm not sure what it could be.
Perhaps the Anarchist theory is the right angle.
The guardsman's unit should do an APB for the perps and offer some payback, Abu Ghraib style!
From now on I will refer to you as a long haired FM type.
I wonder the same! I have the up most honor for anyone that is serving in our country in war or not. My father never talks about it, but I always hype him lol. One of the only two times he even mentioned Vietnam was when he said he trashed his 4 Purple Hearts, calling them "enemy marksman badges". When I saw John Kerry promoting himself in the ways he did it just disgusted me.
