While the lefties and the Mayor of SLC (Rocky Anderson) were busy undermining the war effort and providing comfort to the enemy, we had the opportunity to stand with heroes in support of our nation and our troops.
Things kicked off with the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance and some country music in support of our troops sung by a local talent.
We heard speeches from Legionnaires, soldiers, the Attorney General, CWO Paul Holton, as well as a female Iraqi Doctor CWO Holton met and has coordinated humanitarian efforts with. All noted that supporting our troops means supporting their mission. Support at home is critical to win the war and yes, the war in Iraq is the war on terror!
The Legionnaires made mention of how support at home (for both the troops and their mission) means so much to those out in combat. They mentioned that we went to war over Pearl Harbor. A strike which occurred against a military target by a military force. So why is it so hard to understand the right and necessity we have to prosecute a war against those who see our children as legitimate targets!
The Iraqi doctor mentioned how grateful she was to be free and that the huge majority of "insurgents" are not from Iraq. Unfortunately, I had to go to work at this point. I really wanted to hear the rest of her speech.
On my way out, I thanked several soldiers and legionnaires for their support and reminded them that they are always welcome in Utah.
As a finaly note, I was interviewed by a local TV channel. I doubt, however, that they'll use the interview. He kept coming back with the "how do you feel about the protest" question. I continued to respond that it's unfortunate some wish to focus on the negative...I'm here to show our troops and veterans we support them and their mission and give them a proper welcome. I get the feeling he was fishing for some tin-foil hat/foaming at the mouth statement, however.
Those who fully support our troops (we support them and their mission):
redrock, soccer8, UAC Utah
poltak (Freeper and Protest Warrior - I coordinated w/ him. He got us the "Peace thru Victory" sign)
Other attendees (several moms and dads came to support their sons/daughters) and their signs:
State Attourney General
I had a blast! Unfortunately, I have to post and run but I'll check back tonight.
Looks like y'all had a really great day.
I saw the Salt Lake City mayor on Fox and Friends this a.m. and he made me physically ill. What a poor example for the people of Utah. He was organizing a protest for President Bush's visit. I was hoping there would be lots there to counter his display of unpatriotic behavior. Thanks for the pictures.
God bless.
Thanks to Redrock, NraFreedom, UAC Utah, and Poltak for attending. I wouldn't be surprised if others were there as well but in the crowd of about 400, it wasn't easy to find everyone (I missed NraFreedom, for example). If you were there, check in on this thread.

Bump...
Great work!
Is this the Salt Lake City mayor that E.D. Hill seemed to attack because he would not welcome President Bush? If so, E.D. did very well!
Wonderful effort!
¡SALUD!
AWESOME!
btt
Yes. That is Rocky Anderson (see: Veterans Clash With Salt Lake City Mayor).
It was great meeting up with you and being able to support our troops. Too bad I missed the Iraqi Doctor's speech, but being able to crash the Anderson rally was also priceless. I hope we'll continue beyond today to spread the truth about the war in Iraq (not Michael Moore's 'truth', but the actual truth) so that hopefully enough Americans will be awake and aware that we won't face the same problems with Islamofascism as we're seeing presently in Europe.
Great pics, by the way! Thanks for posting. I don't have your private email address but as soon as I get it, I'll send my pics since I don't know how to post them here.
Utah is now free? You mean I can pay taxes through the nose and buy some whiskey in the state now?
Wish I could have been there. My wife razzed me last night as we were watching the news making fun of me because I couldn't be there. It was all in good fun. She knows how bad I wanted to be there. I wouldn't let her watch CSI:NY so I could watch the President land and give his speech at the airport. Channel 4 had it live so did Fox News. Not sure if channel 5 had it or not.
My wife said that channel 4 really stuck it to Rocky with some pretty unfavorable coverage. The channel 4 crew was also quite complimentary of the President in their coverage. I really like how all Utah stations refer to the lefties as protests and the pro-troop people as rallies. It really gives the left the negative outlook. And Soccer, if you held your own during that interview, then that only helps the cause.
Great job guys, I wish I could have been there, but work and school, and a two hour drive really prevented me. But you guys represented well! Thanks a million.
God Bless President Bush, the troops and the United States of America.
