All FReepers and lurkers in good standing are invited to join Jim Robinson and the D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com in Washington, D.C. this September to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Free Republic.
The celebration will be held as part of Support the Troops and Their Mission Weekend, September 22-23, which will feature a rally at the Washington Monument.
The rally will be held Saturday, September 23rd from noon to 3 p.m. at the Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument, 15th Street and Independence Avenue, SW. (NOTE: Slightly different location than previously announced.
After the rally, a private party for Freepers and honored guests will be held in the evening, details TBA.
The day before, Friday, September 22nd, we will gather at the main gate to Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 6:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. for our regular support the troops demonstration. The main gate is located at 7200 Georgia Avenue, NW at Elder Street, NW.
Earlier on Friday, we hope to organize groups to visit Congress to inform our Senators and Representatives of our support for the war on terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, and to urge them to stay the course.
Co-sponsors of Support the Troops and Their Mission Weekend include Right March, Protest Warrior chapters, Military Families Voice of Victory and the D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com.
We are working on establishing a central Web site for the weekend. It should be ready this week. We are also inviting speakers and should be able to start announcing confirmations after Labor Day.
We are still looking for help to pay for the rally. If you'd like to contribute, please click the donate button at this link.
Hope to see you there!
For those of you on the West coast, the Fresno chapter is holding a 10th anniversary celebration with JimRob this September 8 and 9. Details here.
You have Freepmail.
Hooray!
Nice update on the facts!
Bump for the Rally Supporting Our Troops and for the 10th anniversary of Free Republic (September 26th will be the 8th anniversary of the DC Chapter)!

That's part of the Code PinkOs "Troops Home Fast" menu, which Citizen Smash writes about in greater detail, on his blog.
Wow! 10 years.
Thanks Jim, and thanks DC Chapter.
You've done a great service.
Hopefully, you will remember this and add him in your thoughts.
Thanks
So? I bet they are also breathing oxygen and driving cars.
To all:
We'd like to make this rally a huge success! We're hoping as many FReepers as can possibly make it will do so. Bring your families, friends, coworkers... anyone you can persuade or kidnap. Also, we'd like to promote it on the radio. Call your local talkshow hosts and talk it up BIG. And if you can swing it, please click on the DC Chapter Donate Link and make a donation so they can cover the rally expenses and also have enough to provide for some radio advertising. It really works! And we want a big crowd!
Thanks very much!!
Hope to see y'all there!!
Thanks. I'll check it out.
Thank you, Jim. It'll be a great honor to celebrate FR's 10th with you and Syncro.
Yes, we will.
Nothing, really. I just thought it was an odd menu item for a "fast." I can't picture Ghandi doing a beer fast.
Homer Simpson, maybe.
Will there be an "Old Timers" gathering?
My apologies. I misread the "fast".
No, but we'll make the old timers stand and do the Bill Clinton 'cops cheer.'
Eagles Up !
Man! I wish I could make it. It will be a great weekend!
Its just a few days before my birthday so everyone celebrate like you really mean it.
I'm sure a few DC Chapter members will do their own version of a beer fast after the rally.
;-)
