Posted on 08/29/2006 5:03:09 PM PDT by silent_jonny

Today In New Orleans, President Bush Discussed The Lessons Our Nation Has Learned Since Katrina, The Work That Has Been Done, And The Many Challenges That Still Lie Ahead. One year ago today, Southeast Louisiana was struck by a cruel hurricane and flooding on a massive scale.

The President has returned to New Orleans to reiterate his commitment and to report what the Federal government is doing to make good on its promises.

However, the one-year anniversary is not the finish line, and many challenges still remain.

God bless New Orleans. As a Louisiana native, I sure hope the city will have a rebirth that will make it better than it was before.

Whenever The First Couple are together, you have to look under Laura's name to get all the photos........and some of the best.

The idiots in the media make us look in every nook and cranny to find pictures of the President.

THANKS for a GREAT Dose, jonny! You did a super duper job!! (No surprise there!)

Just in for a minute in the middle of packing and after class. These photos are stupendous today because they reveal the depth of character of our much reviled and maligned President.

I can't help but believe that he is reviled precisely because of his character. What a blessing he is to this nation!

Thank You, Lord!

I shared some of our recent Doser recipes with a friend and she sent me this. She has health problems that sometimes require some creativity and substitutions to get the end product so that's why there are references to making it easier. She calls them

"Recipes for the Indisposed"

EZ Pot Roast
Chuck roast
seasoned with salt pepper, lots of garlic salt or bits
1 pkg Lipton onion soup mix
water to cover

Cook in slow cooker, use roaster all day on low
Add carrots, spuds, mushrooms, fresh onions at last bit if you have energy enough

* * * * *
OR
On horrible [low energy] days
add canned mixed veggies

When you take the top off the moisture evaps and leaves a yummy beefy onion gravy stock

OR
on day two shred beef and cut up any leftovers
To the stock, add:
2 cans mixed veggies
1 can corn
2 cans stewed tomatoes
2 cans tomato sauce
Szechuan sauce or curry and / or Worcestershire sauce
2 bay leaves

We really LOVE this stew/soup it freezes well too.

Hi, Polly :)

Everyone just HATES that evil President Bush. /sarcasm

Oh yeah. He's so hated that Nagin and Blanco trip over themselves to get in a photo with him ;)

Anyone know where Laura went?

I don't know ... Even though the photos don't show her boarding or leaving AF1, I assume that she's at the ranch with GWB.

It is interesting to me to see the cultural differences in our 2 countries.

In Britain women in the same position as Mrs Bush and Gov Blanco would most probably wear a hat and skirt or dress not trousers to such a service.

I am not criticizing but just observing the difference both look as smart and respectful.

MUST VIEWS/READS . . .

THE KATRINA VIDEO CONGRESS DIDN'T WANT YOU TO SEE
I'm going to warn you now. If you've only heard the news from the mainstream media, everything you think you know about Katrina flooding New Orleans is wrong. If you think you already know everything there is to know about Katrina, then you can safely ignore this post. - If the sum total of your interest in New Orleans flooding is to bash Nagin or Bush, then please... Go to where your intellect will be more appreciated. If you'd like to have your whole understanding of the Great Flood of New Orleans changed, hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

STORM, SOUND & FURY
August 29, 2006 -- Marking the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, President Bush declared today a National Day of Remembrance. He might have also called it a National Day of Misinformation - because the story of that killer storm remains as distorted as ever.

PLAME OUT
The ridiculous end to the scandal that distracted Washington.
By Christopher Hitchens

I had a feeling that I might slightly regret the title ("Case Closed") of my July 25 column on the Niger uranium story. I have now presented thousands of words of evidence and argument to the effect that, yes, the Saddam Hussein regime did send an important Iraqi nuclear diplomat to Niger in early 1999. And I have not so far received any rebuttal from any source on this crucial point of contention. But there was always another layer to the Joseph Wilson fantasy. Easy enough as it was to prove that he had completely missed the West African evidence that was staring him in the face, there remained the charge that his nonreport on a real threat had led to a government-sponsored vendetta against him and his wife, Valerie Plame.

Hitchens tells it like it is once again
