Since the media has planned an orgy of finger pointed for the anniversary of Katrina, let's make sure they get a finger in the eye they so richly deserve for their performance. Here's a few I recall, and I'm sure there are more:
Photo captions had white survivors foraging for supplies, while black people were captioned as looting. Helicopters were being fired at, which led to a stand down till it became clear that it was untrue. All those lives lost during that interval are due to media neglagence and the blood of those victims is on the media's hands. Please feel free to forward the results to local or national talk radio so their sorry reporting is not white washed. The media told us of a little girl who had been rapoed and then her throat slit in the Superdome.
Add:
Repeated and intentional failure to point out that the reason there were no supplies at the convention center is that it wasn't a designated evacuation site.
Don't forget about the "toxic soup" simmering the days immediately after the hurricane passed and the levees failed....
How about the shark swimming around downtown NOLA?
"Yes they were reporting on every thread that there
were 800+ bodies piled up on the side of Highway 90
in Biloxi. But they were never able to produce a picture
or any physical evidence."
Yep!
That story was something else.

"It's a very slow rise, and it will remain so until we plug that breach. I think we can get it stabilized in a few hours," Terry Ebbert, New Orleans' homeland security chief told The Associated Press.
I especially remember this one because some troll came onto the the food list and asked how we could be talking about barbecuing (since it was right before Labor Day) when people in N.O. were becoming cannibals.
Geraldo's reporting one Saturday night, I think it was, from NO was the last time I ever watched him. He got that silly Police Superintendant (I think that is what they call them there) to get on TV to talk about how all hell was going to break loose overnight; that people were going to start rioting. Had that leader acting unprofessional, only adding to the bad situation.
Of course, the next day started one of the biggest airlifts I could imagine. No one bothers to report the logistics that have to go into pulling that off.
Oh, I heard a report the other day that there is an "outcry" over the lack of competitive bids for rebuilding after Katrina. For goodness sakes people, make up your minds. Do you want it done fast, or procedural? Unfortunately, it can't be both ways.
But New Orleans, I guess my last point is, I kind of feel upset. Because I have some pictures of a Dad reading stories to his kid. I have a picture of a lady whoI don't know what the hell she was thinking when she brought itbut she brought her clown suit, and make-up, and she's in full clown garb, and she's got a wig on, and a nose and everything, and she sat there for days and painted kids' faces all day long. I have 20 amazing stories of people taking care of each other for every one incident of someone stealing, or someone taking somebody's stuff, or someone trying to get into somebody else's business, or someone laying their hands on somebody.
New Orleanians have been kind of cheated, because now everybody thinks that they just turned to animals, and that there was complete lawlessness and utter abandon, when that wasn't the case. Because if there was, we would have completely lost control of the Dome. And we never did. People just kind of hung on, through the heat and through everything, until they got on a bus and left.
The levee was blowed up real good.
ROTF!
No one is saying that the people are angels or even smart but the truth is things did not go down like it was reported. It isn't just with New Orleans and Katrina where this is a problem but is just proof that what the media tells us isn't always the truth.
>many of us saw it.
I was streaming WWL and watched that interview.<
Do you remember anything else he said, that I may have missed? I remember watching the commercials on that station, thinking that the cars they were hawking would be underwater by the next day. Surreal.
Outstanding thread Doctor Raoul. Thanks to all contributors. MSM is trying to resurrect their dead.
The one I remember about Shep was when he was on a bridge and some poor Department of Public Works employee showed up in a pickup truck. Shep pounced on him and browbeat him with questions and accusations that were undoubtedly WAY above the guy's paygrade. Geez, you would have thought that poor guy was a mass murderer. I'll betcha dollars to donuts that ol' Shep didn't take the same attitude with Blanco, Nagin or Brown.
Don't forget he ensconced his family in Houston pretty damn quick and for a long time.
