"Stockholm Syndrome" is identifying with your captors and saying nice things about them or their associations after your freed.
"Rome Syndrome" is "Stockholm Syndrome" with tomato sauce.
Now go back and read my post and you'll get it.....I hope.

"Rachel Scott is a testimony to that courage."
Yes, she was. That is how I HOPE I would respond. I pray, that if ever faced with a similar situation, she would be the one I emulated. Like I said, though, I wonder.
It is good, in a way, to have this opportunity, for me at least, to do more self evaluation, study and prayer. I find myself taking too much for granted about myself and my faith. I recognize my own weakness, as unhappy as it is for me to see it so clearly.

Well, it goes without saying that people who are vulnerable to cults are empty people, looking for something to fill a void withing themselves. Unfortunately, most Muslims are born into it, and the mind control begins at birth. Such psychological damage is almost impossible to undo through rational thought and education. It doesn't really leave us much of a choice when dealing with those who believe that their only value in this world is to kill us.

I agree.. somehow I believe this moment was God's Will so that Christians don't forget who we are fighting, and what we are fighting for. In my opinion this spells out clear and loud what the future will be under Islamic law: convertion or death.. hardly something we want for our children or grandchildren. We need to deal Islam a decisive blow just like we did with to the Japanase in WWII. Only then will they think about consequences in an objective manner and decide if the price can easily absorved.

Are you insane? So these two men should leave their families FATHERLESS? Is that what a GOOD CHRISTIAN would do?

A good Christian would put God above family..(Abraham did) for it is God who has given us a family, and everything that surrounds us belongs to him.(Book of Job)
To: Carry_Okie
Carry_Okie...I believe we are in agreement on the threat and on the need to fight it. I simply will not judge these men based on their coersed statements...irrespective of what my inclination and belief is regarding my own actions in the same circumstances.
Perhaps Peter was order or directed to deny Christ. I have often thought of that myself. But if he was, then the possibility exists that others, through His spirit might also be so convicted...even if it is against what they would want to do. All the more reason not to judge these men and their potential eternal disposition. That's my only point.

Why don't you leave this up to these two men and God? I REALLY DO THINK GOD CAN DEAL WITH THIS!

I am not perfect. I am just posting my thoughts, and convictions on this instance.. I am allowed to do just that right? Of course this is between 2 men and God.
To: sasha123
They have, and it was nothing but gushing praise for the beautiful and kind Pal people, including laughing photo-ops with the Pal gov. Not to mention their "plight".
Of course the next report on the news is about the evil, mendacious, stupid, corrupt and dangerous Bush.
And next is a report about the Israeli occupation and massacres.
And the next is about the atrocities committed by the AMERICAN military.
And on to Bush hating black people, sitting by pool on vacation while NO drowned.
And to close out the news hour they report on the impending victory of the Dems, they are taking over and will save us from the failure in Iraq, put the innocent Saddam back in, and the coming of peace and prosperity with Hillary.

I understood the Stockholm Syndrome reference but after reading one of the nastiest threads I've ever read here I wasn't sure about the Rome reference.
Seem like there's more than one religious war going on at the moment.

Thank you for your most insightful post.
To: Hildy
Are you insane? So these two men should leave their families FATHERLESS? Is that what a GOOD CHRISTIAN would do?It is not the fault of those that kidnapped these men? And who directed these men to be in Gaza on that day? It could be that people are free to make choices, and others will point out the ramifications of having agency to choose.
