Singer Steve Nicks is doing her part to support U.S. troops by donating hundreds of iPods to soldiers wounded in Iraq. The former Fleetwood Mac star regularly visits soldiers at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
She explains, "I refuse to be pulled into the politics of war. But once these soldiers sign up, go to war and come back to a hospital, I will do whatever it takes to make them better." Nicks has provided iPods loaded with her music, along with fellow artists Aerosmith and Elvis Presley.
She has also sent baby clothes to war widows, joined bedside vigils and with the United Service Organization (USO), hopes to provide every returning soldier with a music player. She adds, "Any one of them could be my own child. You can't help falling in love with every one of them."
very cool. I wonder what the catch is. Has she given up her alleged witchcraft, too?
Holy smokes -- she gets it!
I'm already preparing for when she comes out in the future and blows it all with some remarks that are more in keeping with her crowd...
Maybe Martha Stewart can provide the hard fighting troops with some elegant table napkins, and Paul Newman with jars of his "Paul's Own" spaghetti sauce? Any other idee-errsfor the celebrities we worship? Oh yes, and Paris Hilton could provide her used underwear to the troops guarding the Abu Ghraib prison.

Now that's hot.
...well for those of us who don't watch Southpark, it sounded like an insult to me too....should have referenced Southpark so next time you scold someone, maybe YOU should think also......to many that would have been a mean and crude remark...Thanks
LMAO!!
Eeeeuw. Ingracious remark number two. And how many iPODs have YOU given, good Christian that you are?
Nicks has toyed around with witchcraft and been fascinated by the mistique of it in the past but she never was a witch. Leave her alone. In Christ's mind, she's a Christian, the real kind, based on her acts of charity that defy even her possible feelings about the war. I'd like to see you top that.
An insult is an insult. When I want to be scolded by the post police I'll call you.
hey, dude, I didn't come crashing in that bubble you live in.
I don't think she is fond of the impeached one. I remember an interview during which Leno or Lettermen (can't remember which) asked about Clinton and the use of the Stevie Nicks song for his campaign. And wasn't it exciting playing for him? Stevie kind of made a face and said he might make a good president someday if he ever grew up.
I think he behaved like a bore and she was disgusted.
That would be the majority of FReepers.
"I refuse to be pulled into the politics of war."
We know what her politics are.
She was hot back when, though.
She's probably slept with everything that moves, plus Christine McVie too. All that and a booze and cocaine and debauchery binge that could cover Mount Everest.
But amid all that, here she is, a quiet tiny little figure, working without publicity, giving expensive iPODs to wounded soldier after wounded soldier with her own money, refusing to be drawn in to war politics, doing the real charity, and the amazing spectacle of sniping at her nevertheless continues!
Incidentally, who is this old hag all dressed in drag?
I know you thought no one was around tonight. Well I am here and I know. I will let this one slide.
bore=gore? lol
Oh, she has always been hot. No doubt about that.
Good for Stevie! I always liked her songs. They are easy to sing cause they're in my vocal range. ;o)
