LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - After 40 years of performing rock music, pop ballads and movie soundtracks, Elton John is looking to cross over to yet another musical genre -- hip hop.
"I want to bring my songs and melodies to hip hop beats -- a bit like 'No Diggity' by Blackstreet,'" John said in excerpts of an interview posted on Rolling Stone's Web site on Friday. (SNIP)

I vow to not buy it.
Hip-hop. Now there's a culture that's really done a lot for black children, and black education. There's a culture really worthy of a boost from the Rich Ole' Fag from England.

I just heard Elton's 11-17-70 album for the first time in many years. Fantastic stuff. A rock and roll tour de force in a piano trio setting...killer.
To hear these early live recording makes me realize why he became so successful.

I was a child when I first heard his music. I thought he was brilliant. His genius for music combined with Taupin's lyrical talent amazed me.
Later on in life, I heard about his "possible" homosexuality. It was the first time I had heard of the concept as a child. I was so dissappointed I chose not to believe it. Later on when he came out of the closet I had moved on to other musical interests.
To this day, I feel he was among the best of an entire generation. I'm simply sad that he didn't pursue a path that would have lead to children who might have potentially shared his talent and continued his legacy. Oh well, it's his life. He's made a mark that will be remembered.
Oh great! Now my ears can bleed TWICE!
An old, fat, queer Englishman bustin' some dope rhymes. Yeah, that'll sell.
As much as his appearance at the Harley Davidson anniversary bash. :)
As part of this fall's new season of comedy lineup?...
[cue a horrified Edward Woodward from "The Wicker Man":]
"Oh, God! Oh, Jesus Christ!"
What's a "record"?
Will you vow to buy this?

That lady and her vows...
sHe's taken vows with a woman.
sHe's taken vows with a "man."
Now, sHe's taking vows with hip-hop.
Sergio Mendes was able to pull this off, but he's not a pudgy gay Brit with no sense of meter or melody.
I've always wondered what the allure of Elton is. His songs all sound spliced together from atonal fragments to me-- as if a nice song regrettably fell into the woodchipper. No wonder he has to dress like a flouncing baboon-- he needs to take folks' minds off the fact that his music is un-hummable, un-toe-tappable and thin as weak tea.
His downfall was sad. I grew up on Yellow Brick Road and others, and he was a genius.
Aging queens shouldn't breakdance.
