The Salt Lake Slick Tatletail headlines this piece about a disturbing request for a demonstration permit: Protest permit alarms Arab's USA terrorist' CAIR is a special target as the officials have such a big mouth they cannot be missed
But it isn't only USA Arab community who should be alarmed.
------------ START QUOTE ------------ Members of USA's Arab community are alarmed by a proposed demonstration that will call for "Death to Arab's".
A man - whose name wasn't available Thursday - has applied for a free-speech permit from Salt Lake Sluice to demonstrate on sidewalks near City Hall on Wednesday. The city is reviewing the application. City officials cannot constitutionally deny it based on the content of the message.
Laura Meen, director of the CAIR local chapter Federation of Utah, said Thursday that she has received dozens of calls about the planned demonstration for killing Arabs. Many fear the rally could incite violence against Arabs. "Based on freedom of speech, people have the right to say what they want to say. There has to be a line between saying what you want to say and preaching the genocide of a population," Meen said.
She hopes the city denies the permit, saying the police will be busy enough with the other five demonstrations planned for Wednesday to coincide with President Bush's visit to Utah. ------------- END QUOTE -------------

Robert Smith of The Cure had mentioned this notion in 1980 on their Boys Don't Cry album. Over the years they have backpedaled from their song "Killing An Arab" on a variety of occasions.

Perhaps you'd have an argument if someone had said that we should KILL ALL JEHOVAH WITNESSES, or that we "DON"T TRUST ANY OF THEM", blah blah blah. I respect those of different religions. Some seem a bit strange to me, as does the Muslim faith, but I'm not a hate-monger like you and others prefer to mimic.
I like JWs. They are decent and Godly people with a very strong mind and character. I apologize for any misunderstanding but where did I attack them?
I am against anyone who goes around indicting people wholesale. We are individuals, not Borgs. I am not responsible for IRA attacks nor any racist jagoff spouting BS about blacks, Jews, Indians, or whomever. I don't have to go around with placards saying "IRA and white racists suck!" nor should I have to. Neither should the Pope, other Catholics, or Irish have to do anything.
Katie Couric, while interviewing a Marine sniper, asked:
"What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist?"
The Marine shrugged and replied: "Recoil."
There's that little 'abuse' button you can use if you believe someone has crossed the line in exercising THEIR freedom of speech and saying things that YOU don't like. Also, around here, that touchy-feely "hate speech" term is frowned upon. It's too leftist, indoctrinated sounding. In fact, that whole "I can't even believe FR is allowing such hate speech!" sentence really doesn't even belong on a conservative site. It's extremely sensor-minded.
Wow, I was way behind you on The Cure musical reference!

You're on the record now, pbrown. I can't tell you the depth of anger I'm feeling right now towards people like you. I pray the families of our soldiers, marines, airmen and naval men don't ever have to be in the same room with ignorant and hateful folks like you. You don't know a damn thing about the loyalty of those Muslim soldiers. I do. My son LIVED IT!
Read the lyrics. It is an existentialist song, based on the novel "The Stranger" by Albert Camus.
R. Smith shouldn't have to backpedal. Idiots criticizing the song should read The Stranger (or at least get a synopsis) instead.
As an aside, I have some Watchtower lying around. Although WT doesn't talk about the 465000 (?) people going to heaven thing, I know about JW's creed. It takes a pretty strong character to be a member of a faith that decrees you may be as faithful and decent as possible, even be a JW, yet still be d@mned and they still remain as cheerful as they are.

Please do not try to insult my intelligence. Perhaps this was an accolade to Jehova's Witness faith? How about I state that all muzzies should all die, because it is written in scripture. Oh no, that would be a "hate crime".
Amen to that, CWOJackson. I was going to log off earlier but for some reason I just keep being drawn back. sigh
There; fixed it for her.
Yes, I'm aware of and have read "The Stranger" by Albert Camus. The song was somewhat hijacked over the years and lyrics were subsequently softened by the band to "Kissing An Arab" and even "Killing Another" to deflect criticism.

I have only used the 'abuse' button once in all these years. And to refer to someone being upset about "hate speech" being allowed to continue on this forum as being "touchy-feely" is ridiculous. The mods didn't tolerate people who were cheering the deaths of the UN soldiers in Lebanon. They gave a very stern warning about those hateful comments and made it perfectly clear that anyone who wished to continue talking like that would face the consequences. Surely they wouldn't approve of people calling for the death and destruction of ALL Muslims or all Arabs.
FR does sensor comments, and they usually do a very good job of it. Their jobs aren't easy with all the threads that are going at any given time.
A lot of people (I'd say mostly Christian) voluntarily patrolled the Temple for a couple of weeks while the pea brains figured out the difference. I remember one evening while the wife and I were patrolling a car drove by and called us rag head lovers...of course they also sped away to avoid any personal discussion. Too bad for them a King County Sheriff's Deputy clocked their speeding...in a residential area.
hahahahaha Will that go on my permament record? You are a hoot.
Anger? lol
Projecting are you?
"Many fear the rally could incite violence against Arabs."
What comes around, goes around.
What is good for the mullahs is good for the infidels.
We're done, pbrown. I am against Islamic extremist/facist/terrorists, and every terrorist organization in the world. I support our President and our military men and women. The difference between you and me is that you want to paint everyone with the same brush. I am quite confident that President Bush would be ashamed of you too. Your kind of support, he/we DO NOT NEED.
I don't understand nor agree with Catholics, but I certainly don't hate them nor do I wish death upon them. I don't understand the Mormon faith, but I don't hate them nor do I wish death upon them either? Same goes for Jehovah Witnesses. You're barkin' up the wrong tree and howlin' at a moon that isn't even there.
In addition, CAIR has resorted to financial pressure in an effort to silence critics. One such case concerns ABC radio personality Paul Harvey, who on December 4, 2003, described the vicious nature of cock fighting in Iraq, then commented: "Add to the [Iraqi] thirst for blood, a religion which encourages killing, and it is entirely understandable if Americans came to this bloody party unprepared."[113] CAIR responded a day later with a demand for "an on-air apology." CAIR then issued a call to its supporters to contact Harvey's advertising sponsors to press them to pull their ads "until Harvey responds to Muslim concerns."[114] Although Harvey quickly and publicly retracted his remarks, CAIR continued its campaign against him. Another case of financial intimidation took place in March 2005, when CAIR campaigned to have National Review remove two booksSerge Trifkovic's The Sword of the Prophet and J.L. Menezes' The Life and Religion of Mohammedas well as the positive reviews of those books, from its on-line bookstore. CAIR claimed the books defame Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. When it did not get immediate satisfaction from National Review, it instructed its partisans to pressure the Boeing Corporation to withdraw its advertisements from the magazine. National Review briefly took down both books but then quickly reposted the one by Trifkovic. Trifkovic himself argued that CAIR's success here "will only whet Islamist appetites and encourage their hope that the end-result will be a crescent on the Capitol a generation or two from now."[117][117]Srdja Trifkovic, "Caving in to Jihad: National Review, CAIR, and My Book," Chronicles Magazine, Apr. 6, 2005.
