WNBC.com reports:
NEW YORK -- New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, confronted with accusations he's taking too long to rebuild his city after Hurricane Katrina, takes a swipe at New York's redevelopment of the World Trade Center site on a television news show.Nagin, weaving through the wreckage in the devastated Ninth Ward neighborhood, claimed much of the debris was removed from public property, but when a "60 Minutes" correspondent pointed out flood-damaged cars on the streets, Nagin shot back, "You guys in New York can't get a hole in the ground fixed, and it's five years later. So let's be fair," according to CBS.
Okay, let's be fair. While indeed that is a "hole in the ground," Ground Zero is also where 2,795 people were murdered and America has twice been attacked. New Yorks civilians and private organizations have contributed greatly to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. New York City sent rescue teams, police, and firefighters to assist New Orleans.
During this year's Mardi Gras parade, Mayor Nagin rode a horse and wore a US military desert camouflage uniform in a disrespectful manner. Mixing in a civilian T-shirt and strings of beads around his neck, he wore general's stars and military medals he never earned, and his official biographies make no mention of military service.
I was going to include a picture here yet that horse has been humiliated enough. Besides, the pictures show him sitting half a horse too far forward from where Mayor Nagin's remarks usually originate. You will just have to find the pictures elsewhere and consider the source yourself.
Nagin has to be the biggest arse in the world. And the people of New Orleans are arses too for voting him back in.
Nagin has never been accused of having intelligence yet he feels a need to demonstrate his innocence at every chance.
What a butt-wart!
Hoof in mouth disease is a sad thing to behold.
Touche`
Nagin should shut up. New Orleans can't compare with the comeback NYC made after 9/11. New Orleans is a cesspool and always will be as long as he is mayor. They never should have re-elected him. Tell him to say that to some of our firemen and Police officers - see how long he lasts.
This is the kind of thing that just chills me. This is an example of the Achilles' heel of this great country. When you get a large enough group of idiots together, they control their local political structure.
Nagin is clearly an incompetent, and an idiot... he was elected because he's "one of their own".
In Washington DC, Marion Berry was re-elected after doing time for buying crack. He was "one of their own".
In Dearborn, Michigan, the place is densely populated with muslims. They sound the call to prayer there. It's only a matter of time before they try to get sharia law instituted.
In many cities in California, and the American southwest, there are unassimilated Mexicans voting and controlling the local political structure.
We have to do two things:
1 - Work on assimilating LEGAL immigrants.
2 - Deport and deny entry to illegals and undesirables.
Anything less, and this country will tear itself apart sooner than many of us think.

"RETREAT!!!"
And just when I thought I couldn't dislike this guy anymore....
"Nagin" must be some other-universe anagram of "anus".
I will tell you what I thought when I saw him carrying pn like this...Khadafi, Hussein, etc.

Mooncricket Nagin is plainly an idiot. He wouldn't know the truth if it bitch slapped him in his face. He thinks that he is now a national figure. Nothing but a POS pus pocket from a sewer hole of a city. People died while Nagin lived large in DALLAS!
They, NOLA, deserve what they get, got, and continue to do so.........
That picture makes me think of a third world dictator, he's the warlord of New Orleans. At least that's what it made me think of.
Jeff, You and I had the exact same reaction...
No offense but he does have a point. It's been five years and the "hole" was cleared out and ready to start rebuilding in less than a year. Four years later, still nothing. Yes, honor the dead, it was a tragic day and we will always remember it, I'm all for a memorial. But for Heaven's sake, let's get some construction underway.
The way I see it, it's just like the New York libs, happy to point out somebody else's flaws and failures despite despite their own all-too-obvious failures.
