Sarajevo, 24 August (AKI) - Bosnian Muslim leader Sulejman Tihic has told local Serbs to stop talking about a possible referendum on independence, because Bosnia was indivisible and those who don’t like it should leave the country. Tihic, who currently chairs Bosnia’s three-man rotating state presidency, has been an outspoken advocate of Muslim demands for the abolition of Bosnia’s Serb entity, Republika Srpska (RS). Local Serbs for their part have threatened to hold a referendum on independence. The quarrel prompted the high representative of the international community in Bosnia, Christian Schwarz Schilling, to intervene last week demanding that politicians on both sides should stop “inflammatory rhetoric” ahead of the 1 October general election, adding that calls for abolition of RS and threats of a referendum were equally damaging. -----
But the international community, which safeguards peace in Bosnia, has been stripping entities of state prerogatives in an effort to strengthen central government. Bosnian Serbs, the second biggest ethnic group, have resisted changes, fearing domination by majority Muslims. -----
“Those who don’t like it, who are still dreaming of a failed project of Greater Serbia, or some Serbian state in Bosnia, can go somewhere else, but they can’t take with them an inch of Bosnian territory,” said Tihic.
Instead of heeding Schwarz-Schilling's appeal for calm, political analysts say such bickering is likely to increase, with politicians on both sides appealing to nationalistic passions prior to the October elections.

Not sure how you can call our Balkans policy "pro-Islamic" when you look at the results. When the first President Bush took office, Yugoslavia was still a communist country, no ally of the USA, and a way-station for terrorists such as Mohammed Abbas of Achille Lauro infamy. Albania was an isolationist, brutal communist dictatorship.
Now, what started as Yugoslavia--communist, atheist, hostile to America--has turned into six nation-states; all with democratic governments: Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, and Macedonia. Five of those six are primarily Christian. Four(Slovenia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Croatia) to include the only one with a Muslim majority (Bosnia), have troops allied with the USA in Afghanistan and/or Iraq. Albania is also now a democracy and a staunch US ally; one of the first to contribute troops to both Iraq & Afghanistan; and opens its air & land & sea-space for our military to train.
So explain again how US Balkans policy which has produced democracy for millions, several Christian majority nations, and a group of allies for the USA in the war against Islamic terrorism is "pro-Islamic."
AS YOU WERE! None, to include Bosnia, have a Muslim majority--Bosnia has a Muslim plurality: "Religions: Muslim (40%); Orthodox (31%); Catholic (15%); Protestant (4%); other (10%). In fact, at 31% + 15% + 4%; the Christian proportion of the population is 50% making it the predominant religion in Bosnia, also.
Don't be ridiculous, Mark. Yugoslavia was socialist and on it's way to democracy anyway. Between Yito's death and the collapse of the Soviet Union, Yugoslav communism had already transitioned to socialism. The same reformers who eventually threw out Milosevic, would have simply done it sooner if there had been no wars. And the only time that "Yugoslavia was hostile to the US" was when Tito was alive, and ironically the US gave Tito strongest support. The Serbs had always be pro-US.
Bosnia and Croatia's wartime presidents, Izetbegovic & Tudjman, were NAZIs -- plain and simple. Izetbegovic had been an Islamofascist during WWII and continued to be one until his death. Tudjman thanked God that his "wife was neither a Serb nor a Jew" and this is his legacy to future generations of Croats.
" Yugoslavia....was.. a way-station for terrorists such as Mohammed Abbas of Achille Lauro infamy.
And Bosnia, where Abbas was hidden from authorities, still is "a way station for terrorists" -- or more acurately described in the PBS documentary, "a pipeline for Al Qaida forces going to fight in Iraq" The difference is that there is no control to stop these Islamofascists anymore, because the Muslims in Bosnia are in control for now -- until the next war comes.
Your argument is intellectually appealing, however in the real world and on the ground, it makes absolutely no sense. All we have done is to empower the cultural enemies of our way of life and cause a bloodletting that hadn't been seen since WWII in the process.
BiH is a haven for quiet AQ-styled cells, training ground and safe haven for AQ-themed cells.
The only reason why "Albania" sent any troops was to recieve kickbacks from the US Govt..i.e open porous borders etc...
Did you fail to mention what the SFOR troops on the ground says about the three ethnic groups? To keep it short...muslims=bad...Serbs=good, very cooperative and they recieve the most useable intel from them. Croats=criminals/bad...
The Italian Cannarberie or whatever they call themselves despise the Croats and muslims... might be due to the fact they go out and roll them up for criminal activity that finances their weapons arsenal buildup...i.e the croats sends up a girl to the main gates to chat up with the guards...knows when the birds head out to forewarn...the croats also simply cut wires that disrupt immediate power and gives them a distraction for their activity... imagine that.
I'm beginning to miss Arkan and the Tigers, as at their possible worst but stripped of the propaganda charges heaped on them by their enemies, they were still the lesser of two evils.
And they did indeed know how to cause their enemies to weep.
Excellent summary of MNPD "Muslim Narcissistic Personality Disorder"...... I agree that this problem seems to be very widespread if not universal in the Islamic world. A lot stems from the absurd Koranic pronouncements about Islam taking over the world, etc. It is comparable to the ambitions of a Hitler or Stalin, even worse in some ways since the entire religion is built around this nonsense.
All the borders are porous in that area--it's why the "Balkans Route" is famous for smuggling. Having said that, it is true that Albania is a favored smuggling nexus. The Albanian government does not "allow free reign ... and free access," but the combination of weak and inefficient law enforcement, corruption, and long rugged land & sea borders makes it a pretty attractive path to travel for those who don't want what they are doing to be checked.
Because al Qaeda owns the KLA and the Dhimmi stooges who support it.
That's the propaganda talking point. Here's the reality:
Serbia and Saddam Hussein were allies.
Serbia, Iraq want united anti-U.S. front
Yugoslavia's Arms Ties to Iraq Draw U.S. Scrutiny
Saddam's Serb Supplier: How our last enemy has been arming our next one.
And Slobo & his wife combined to be the biggest political recipient of Saddam's oil bribes in Europe. The Yugo Socialist Party received vouchers for 1,000,000 barrels and the Yugo Left party received 9.5 million; those organizations are headed by Mr. and Mrs. Milosevic, respectively.

Serbia was cozying up with Qadaffi before his rehabilitation:

And the Iranians have a new friend!
Iran-Serbia Security Cooperation Agreement
And there's more to come as the documents captured in Baghdad continue to be translated. The Iraqi Perspectives Report prepared by the U.S. military details Serb missions to Saddam Hussein in 2001 (post-Milosevic and post 9/11 by the way) intended to help Iraq kill Americans. Here's one of the gems from that report:
"In a meeting with the leader of the Serb Radical Party in 2001, Saddam discussed how he was not impressed with the "Imperialist Tactics" of the United States because, in his opinion, Serbia was able to withstand them. Captured Iraqi document dated 12 December 2001, "Meeting Minutes between Saddam Hussein and Leader of Serb Radical Party."
First of all, I am an American born & bred. My people came over to the US nearly a hundred years ago -- and from Montenegro (not Serbia or Bosnia or Croatia). I have no reason whatever to spread "propaganda" -- nor does Mary Mostert, or Stella Jatras or Julia Gorin, none of whom have one drop of Serb blood in them and all of whom agree on what has happened to the Serbs.
I notice that you didn't even argue with Tudjman and Izetbegovic being "Nazis". Instead, you chose to slam the Serbs. I suggest strongly that you re-read the statement you chose to respond to :
"The Serbs had always been pro-US.
"Had" is past tense.
2. The Serbs had been pro-US before we sold their country out to communism (and then later, ironically blamed them for the country being communist) when in fact the Serbs offered the only non-fascist and non-communist political alternative.
3. The Serbs had been pro-US prior to us siding with the people (Tudjman and Izetbegovic) whose politics had tried to wipe their parents and grandparents off the face of the earth and again seemed bent on having another try at it.
5. The Serbs had been pro-US before we started talking about dismembering their country (Kosovo) and handing their territory over to the Albanians.
Frankly, if I were a Serb from Croatia, Bosnia or Serbia, I would not be "pro-US" at the moment either. And as for the links you cited, you cannot blame Serbs alone for the "Tito legacy". Tito was half-Slovene and half-Croat, and there were millions of Slovenes, Croats, Bosnian Muslims and Kosovo Albanians who benefitted far more from Tito's policies than any Serb ever did.
In reality, Yugoslavia was US partner loosely allied to NATO. Yugoslav officers were trained in U.S. military academies, Yugoslavia received more than $100B of U.S. aid and in return supported American foreign policy, albeit in a discrete way.
Mark has no knowledge of history and tries to replace lack of knowledge with bigotry.
BTTT!
Ronald Regan was last US presidend that was able to see importance of stabile Balkans, more precisly Serbia. That is not somethinbg new, regan just maneged to see what all great statesmen did> Anly stabile, conservative Serbia can make stabile and conservative Europe...
Marky mark---What a joke. The "reality"? from Muslim sites? Albanian sites? And you throw in the Washington comPost? You must be smoking herb...and doing the hookah too.
So many Muslim sites to post...so little time
Just because you throw shit at the wall, don't expect it to stick. The Prime Minister was an ethnic Croatian, Ante Marcovic, not Milosevic. Oh, also the President of Yugoslavia was a Slovene. You can look it up!
So you'll get the message, I'll repeat myself...
Just because you throw shit at the wall, don't expect it to stick.
those are very good answers and sources...thanks.
wow..so there you have it in black and white. So, to sum it up nicely, we will get it done first by turning the Bank president to be, Milosevic into a politician so he can be the Serbian president on our side. Then, we will fulfil the dream of Greater Albania by bringing Muh from Afghanistan, arm them, then stir up trouble for Milosevic so that we will have a reason to sell arms and now we know the rest of the story................opppps, we may have to lie just a little to get this going, maybe stage a few mass graves, market bombing, indications of genocide, rape camps, etc.....no big deal. Hey, CNN, Christain Science Monitor, ICG, hey guys can you help us here. We need some fake footage and wag the dog kind of stuff to get this going. Okay, let's launch.....
Yet another thread where Mark has been caught blatantly revising history, another one book-marked.
