The Serbs had always been pro-US.

That's the propaganda talking point. Here's the reality:

Serbia and Saddam Hussein were allies.

And Slobo & his wife combined to be the biggest political recipient of Saddam's oil bribes in Europe. The Yugo Socialist Party received vouchers for 1,000,000 barrels and the Yugo Left party received 9.5 million; those organizations are headed by Mr. and Mrs. Milosevic, respectively.

And there's more to come as the documents captured in Baghdad continue to be translated. The Iraqi Perspectives Report prepared by the U.S. military details Serb missions to Saddam Hussein in 2001 (post-Milosevic and post 9/11 by the way) intended to help Iraq kill Americans. Here's one of the gems from that report:

"In a meeting with the leader of the Serb Radical Party in 2001, Saddam discussed how he was not impressed with the "Imperialist Tactics" of the United States because, in his opinion, Serbia was able to withstand them. Captured Iraqi document dated 12 December 2001, "Meeting Minutes between Saddam Hussein and Leader of Serb Radical Party."

"The Serbs had been pro-US"...."That's the propaganda talking point."

First of all, I am an American born & bred. My people came over to the US nearly a hundred years ago -- and from Montenegro (not Serbia or Bosnia or Croatia). I have no reason whatever to spread "propaganda" -- nor does Mary Mostert, or Stella Jatras or Julia Gorin, none of whom have one drop of Serb blood in them and all of whom agree on what has happened to the Serbs.

I notice that you didn't even argue with Tudjman and Izetbegovic being "Nazis". Instead, you chose to slam the Serbs. I suggest strongly that you re-read the statement you chose to respond to :

"The Serbs had always been pro-US.

"Had" is past tense.

1.The Serbs had been "pro-US" when they rescued 500 American airmen during WWII. One of those American airmen, Major Richard Felman, recalled the stench of burning Serb flesh when the Germans retaliated for the Serb refusal to give up those Americans, by burning 200 Serb women & children alive!

2. The Serbs had been pro-US before we sold their country out to communism (and then later, ironically blamed them for the country being communist) when in fact the Serbs offered the only non-fascist and non-communist political alternative.

3. The Serbs had been pro-US prior to us siding with the people (Tudjman and Izetbegovic) whose politics had tried to wipe their parents and grandparents off the face of the earth and again seemed bent on having another try at it.

4. The Serbs had been pro-US before we ignored their pleas to help them get rid of Milosevic back in 1996, and instead bombed those same Serbs for 78 straight days "to protect Albanians".

5. The Serbs had been pro-US before we started talking about dismembering their country (Kosovo) and handing their territory over to the Albanians.

Frankly, if I were a Serb from Croatia, Bosnia or Serbia, I would not be "pro-US" at the moment either. And as for the links you cited, you cannot blame Serbs alone for the "Tito legacy". Tito was half-Slovene and half-Croat, and there were millions of Slovenes, Croats, Bosnian Muslims and Kosovo Albanians who benefitted far more from Tito's policies than any Serb ever did.

Just because you throw shit at the wall, don't expect it to stick. The Prime Minister was an ethnic Croatian, Ante Marcovic, not Milosevic. Oh, also the President of Yugoslavia was a Slovene. You can look it up!

So you'll get the message, I'll repeat myself...

Just because you throw shit at the wall, don't expect it to stick.
