The Kremlin may be the main winner in the Lebanon war. Israel has been attacked with Soviet Kalashnikovs and Katyushas, Russian Fajr-1 and Fajr-3 rockets, Russian AT-5 Spandrel antitank missiles and Kornet antitank rockets. Russias outmoded weapons are now all the rage with terrorists everywhere in the world, and the bad guys know exactly where to get them. The weapons cases abandoned by Hezbollah were marked: Customer: Ministry of Defense of Syria. Supplier: KBP, Tula, Russia.
Todays international terrorism was conceived at the Lubyanka, the headquarters of the KGB, in the aftermath of the1967 Six-Day War in the Middle East. I witnessed its birth in my other life, as a Communist general. Israel humiliated Egypt and Syria, whose bellicose governments were being run by Soviet razvedka (Russian for foreign intelligence) advisers, whereupon the Kremlin decided to arm Israels enemy neighbors, the Palestinians, and draw them into a terrorist war against Israel.
General Aleksandr Sakharovsky, who created Communist Romanias intelligence structure and then rose to head up all of Soviet Russias foreign intelligence, often lectured me: In todays world, when nuclear arms have made military force obsolete, terrorism should become our main weapon.

Putin, former KGB, was raised during the soviet hey days and is communist through and through. He harbors a hatred for the USA, as I am sure we would if the tables were turned, he will do anything to enact revenge upon the nation that almost destroyed his. He is a snake in the grass and is not to be trusted. I hope that we have some smart folks in government who are staying on top of this.

The Soviets perfected the role of "State Sponsoring Terror."
Now they seem to be there more to make money on selling weapons. Neither role is beneficial to peace in the Middle East.

Russias outmoded weapons are now all the rage with terrorists everywhere in the world, and the bad guys know exactly where to get them. It's not so much the rockets or even the anti tank weapons as it was the complete failure of Israel to take on the Hezbollahs. The far left that is controlling Israel has weakened the Country. A perfect vision of what will happen to the US if we let the Administration, the Congress, and the house fall into the idiotic left.

Nothing too surprising seeing this. I doubt we will see Russia changing for the better any time soon either, it looks worse and worse every day. The old commies have to die off before we see change. Guys like Putin are in their 50's. In another 20 or 30 years the younger generation that saw freedom begin in Russia will take over. Until then, we will likely see another world war from their empirical ambitions. Those of us with a brain know that everything that can be conquered can be conquered econonmically and through a computer. The rest will cause us all much pain in between while they learn this.

There is some truth, but much disinformation in this article.
Firstly, the Katyusha rockets were NOT Russian. Yes, the Soviets were the first to use them in WWII as an answer to German Artillery, but even Israel has admitted these are Syrian Katyusha rockets. Heck, over 20 countries make these low tech rockets, including the US. If you have a good firecracker plant you can make these rockets.
Secondly, the
Fajr-3 and
Fjar-5 rockets are Iranian, and were not even designed in Russia.
Thirdly, the Kalashnikov rifles may or may not be Russia. These rifles are produced in Russia, Albania, Egypt, Hungary, Iraq, Myanmar, North Korea, Poland, Romania, Yugoslavia, and especially China, which exports more than anyone. Several other countries produce the weapon, but without a license. I know, the Russianphobes are going to say it just has to be Russia.
Fourthly, the
AT-5 Spandrel was developed at the KBP plant in Tula Russia, and went into production in 1974. The Iranians have a knock off called the Towsan-1/M113, which they begin to produce in 2000.
Fifthly, the
AT-14 Kornet is a Russian anti-tank weapon from the KBP plant in Tula, Russia. HOWEVER, they were reportedly used in Iraq, and that turned out not to be true. There were 8 empty cases found in Lebanon, and it was reported the rocket was used. Russia strongly denies selling or furnishing them to Hizbollah. The rocket was first put into use in 1994, and some were sold to Syria at that time. No Kornet parts have been found in Lebanon outside of the empty cases. My guess is they were furnished to Hizbollah by the Syrians and were fired at the Israelis.

But the basic point that Russia is suppling Iran and Syria and hence all it's proxies with the blessing of your beloved Putin is of course 100% accurate.

The Kornet missiles are the only ones we know are involved, and those were sold to Syria in 1994. You sir, have a low regard for the truth.
