A Vermont woman whose bizarre behavior forced a Washington, D.C.-bound plan to make a dramatic landing in Boston yesterday was thought to be a diversion for a possible terrorist attack, according to an FBI affidavit released today. One of two male passengers - either a U.S. air marshal and a correction officer - whose help was solicited by the flight crew had become concerned that she might be acting as a diversion for a possible terrorist action, according to the affidavit. During the flight, Catherine Carse Mayo, 59, made reference to United Flight 93, one of the four planes hijacked in the September 11 attacks, urinated on the floor and told the captain shed been kicked off a flight in the United Arab Emirates for saying two words the flight crew believed to be Al Qaeda.

Well.....she has been in Pakistan for some time. Given her past writings, I wouldn't exactly consider her U.S./Brit friendly.
And rightly so! Good for them. No matter how sane or insane the TSA screening process becomes, the last line of defense is sitting in the passenger cabin. The Lesson of Flight 93 continues, God Bless their souls.
Unfortunately, the captain of the plane did not make the same assessment and unlocked the cockpit door, entering the cabin to see what all the ruckus was about. Stupid move! Imagine the two unprofiled "gentlemen" sitting in seats 1B and 1C rushing the door at that crucial moment. Shut up and fly, pilot and copilot. Let your cabin crew make the decisions while you get the plane on the ground. You were lucky this time. Learn from the mistake.
Plus she calls the People's Republic of Vermont home.
Good guess!
"pilot and copilot. Let your cabin crew make the decisions while you get the plane on the ground. You were lucky this time. Learn from the mistake."
I'm amazed that he actually did this! It seems that security precautions are not entirely in place even yet. I also wonder if crew members are still allowed to have family members fly on their planes. If so it should be stopped immediately.
It is amazing how the media portrayed this incident. Poor claustrophobic woman having an attack.
Liars telling lies about liars I guess.
is she gonna be givin therapy or jail or nuthin for this event?
Memories are short. Then there's the "it would never happen to me/us/this plane" syndrome, perhaps reinforced by the 'Rats constant "the dangers of terrorism are highly over-rated" drumbeat.
A short trip to Democratic Underground or Daily Kos will confirm that there are plenty of people who would gladly aid a terrorist plot. Remember Lynn Stewart.
I got a kick about the "claustrophobic" excuse.
Uh, hello, she has a claustrophobic" attack while on the palne (sorry couldn't resist) coming back from Pakistan...well how in the heck did she get over to Pakistan...take a train or car.
If she's so claustrophobic she wouldn't have flown to Pakistan in the first place.
"If she's so claustrophobic she wouldn't have flown to Pakistan in the first place."
She is back and forth between the states and Pakistan a lot according to her landlord.
She sure sounds claustrophobic to me. /sarc
Did the captain's actions violate United's protocols? Will he/she face disciplinary action?
It is TOO common and way too easy to label these people as mentally disturbed. I am way more cynical.
Hitler was mentally disturbed, ok, but that was a teeny part of the problem with Hitler. This woman lived in Pakistan and had dedicated her life to: 'peace,' bringing down the American government, doing her part to bring jihad to America, what? The jury is still out. We do not yet know what her plan was.
To dismiss her as 'crazy' is to give her an out she does not deserve. Same as it was for the MUSLIM guy in Seattle last week. "Crazy" is an insignificant part of what was going on with him. Give these people meds, they will still have their agendas.
I refuse to use this term with any person with ties to the Middle East.
All pumpfakes... + Brit plane plot + Iran and their military tests they started today all to setup for their Aug 22nd (planned for 2 months) announcement of their plans about nukes.
Great point. To me, any "suicide bomber" is by definition crazy--it does not diminish the danger posed by such people. The president of Iran is crazy as a bedbug, and so is Kim Jong Il of North Korea--but dangerous.
Hopefully, that fat pig will never be able to practice law again. I just did a Google search on her and found she still hasn't been sentenced. Her sentencing hearing has been postponed several times as she is supposed to be undergoing breast cancer treatment. The bitch is rotting from the inside out. The last info is that she requested a sentencing delay until after July 31st. She's milking this one but good.
She should have been thrown off the plane - at thirty thousand feet over the mid-Atlantic.
There was an active plot on that flight or she was part of a dry run for some future effort.
