Carter appointee:

"In 1979, Anna Diggs Taylor became the first black woman judge to be appointed to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Nineteen years later, she became the first black woman Chief Judge for that circuit as well."

They believe many of their overseas contacts are likely targets of the program, which involves secretly taping conversations between people in the U.S. and people in other countries.

Now why would they think this, unless...

Do the courts realize they're forcing American citizens to believe they must take things into their own hands rather than relying upon the law?

That is a really scary change IMO.

Judge orders end to NSA wiretapping

I hope Bush gives a version of that famous Jefferson quote. "I respect the opinion of the judge. Now let him enforce it."

Carter appointee. Not surprising at this level, I expect it to end up in the Supreme Court.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed the lawsuit on behalf of journalists, scholars and lawyers who say the program has made it difficult for them to do their jobs.

Oh, so that's the reason they publish false stories they haven't bothered to fact-check.

So, does this mean they have become the "Fake But Accurate" media??

That sounds like probable cause right there.

U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor in Detroit became the first judge to strike down the National Security Agency's program, which she says violates the rights to free speech and privacy.

So stupid! The very privilege of free speech is the blessing which issues from a democracy. Tyrants and terrorists know nothing about free speech.

When the tyrants and terrorists win WW III with the help of democrats and our liberal judiciary, then the "free" point will be moot.
