The six most recently national job approval polls (excluding this Zogby result) found an average approval rating of 37 percent.
CBS News - 36 percent
Rasmussen - 42 percent
Newsweek - 38 percent
Gallup - 37 percent
FOX News - 36 percent
AP-Ipsos - 33 percent
Out of these six I've seen a lot of sites discrediting AP-Ipsos and praising Gallup. Rasmussen also gains points for being accurate in 2004 and also becuse they measure party affiliations in monthly surveys of 15,000 voters. (As of July that result was 37 percent Democrat, 33.5 percent Republican).

I think his polls stink to high heaven. But I hope he and his family have long, peace-filled lives.
Even among weekly WalMart shoppers – a demographic group identified by Pollster John Zogby as a critical support group for Bush – just 45 percent now give him positive job marks, though his numbers among those shoppers have improved 10 points since early June.

Actually 75 percent of the last set of national polls taken before the 2004 presidential election were correct.
The only ones that weren't were FOX News (which is tough to explain) and ARG (which has thoroughly been discredited as a poll that leans Democratic).
It's okay... I can see how one would think that.
Lessee, a year ago it was "Bush's plummeting poll ratings." Then his ratings all went up, some near 50%, and nobody said a word. So they dip some---or so says Mr. "Let-Me-Sell-You-A-Bridge" Zogby---and it's "news" again.
Luckily Bush, unlike "what's his name", the previous occupant of the oral office does not go about his duties with his finger in the wind to determine the national policy d'jour.
I might add, that last post referenced head-to-head polls. In a three-way race with Nader, 10 out of the last 14 polls were correct. Gallup and ARG both found ties and Fox and Marist had Kerry leading. The rest were all correct, with Newsweek being the farthest off (they found a 6 point Bush lead). All in all, the moral of the story is that polls, whether or not we like the results, are usually correct within about 4 points (FOX being off 4 in one direction and Newsweek 4 points in the other).
Actually, it is Zogby International which conducted the poll, so the 6 billion figure is not part of the equation.
However, 1,000 out of 300 million (the population of the USA) is still extremely questionable.
Personally, I do not believe polls, do not participate in polls, and do not believe the supposed 'scientific methodologies' behind polls.
Still, one must admit that Bush's ratings are extremely low. That can be attributed to the non-stop onslaught of the media, which may have lost credibility and market share, but still wield a lot of punch with certain Americans.
And also, President Bush must assume much responsibility for low ratings. He has not used the bully pulpit effectively. Besides the WOT, the perceived major problem for most Americans is energy prices. The President has been absent on that front.
A few months back President Bush announced his vision to put a man on Mars. Even though I believe that is a truly bold mission, I would have rather heard him announce a plan to make the USA energy independent within 10 years. That would be a bold announcement and could be accomplished with American ingenuity.
But, beyond that, his speech writers have been rather lame and repetitive lately. Not sure what is going on in the White House, but the energy level, the creativity, the confidence of the first term has most certainly waned.
I predict a Bush Bounce a week ahead of Zogby...but will the lamestream media report it?

Well, duh?
I'm a regular Zogby polled person.
I faithfully (except for the last silly, personally intrusive poll asking what movie stars I'd like to hang out with, etc), do his online polls sent me.
As a conservative Republican, I regular give Bush luke warm ratings, thus contributing to his bad poll numbers.
Two groups don't care much for Bush's RINO policies:
(a) Dems
(b) non-RINO Repubs
Thus contributing to low ratings for Bush.
Of course, Zogby presents results inferring that it's Bush's non-RINO policies that are what folks don't like.
Stats can't deceive, but staticians can.
