Get yourself some Tracphones also.

Gotta pass on that. I like to buy in bulk, and too many of the newly minted "conservatives" here would want a waiting period and background check for Tracphones. Fortunately, the ARMSF household has plenty of ammunition. If everything else is off, ammo is much more valuable than Tracphones ;)

See post #134. Perhaps similar cooperation is going on behind the scenes on the recent arrests and release on bail of the guys with the 1000 trac phones?

SEATTLE -- The Port of Seattle set up a perimeter of nearly half a mile around one of its terminals Wednesday after bomb-sniffing dogs indicated that two containers from Pakistan could contain explosives.

Dozens of non-essential personnel were evacuated from Terminal 18, on Harbor Island south of downtown Seattle, a Port of Seattle spokesman said. A bomb squad used explosive charges to cut into the containers, which may have detonated any explosives therein. The squad was examining the contents.

Mike Milne, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said agents had been using a "gamma-ray" device to peer through the containers' steel walls to determine what they contained. Some of the items did not appear to match what was listed on the containers' manifest, Milne said.

That isn't uncommon, Milne said, but the containers were then subjected to bomb-sniffing dogs, per standard procedure. Agents also tested for hints of radiation before cutting into the containers, but detected none.

The Port of Seattle bomb squad apparently did not believe there was a chance of causing a larger blast by using the small charges to gain access to the containers, said spokesman Mick Shultz.

"They wouldn't have done it if they thought there was a chance of that," Shultz said.

Shultz said the containers were supposed to contain oily rags, which are often shipped internationally for recycling or use in packaging.

Nearby businesses were advised to keep their workers indoors.

Milne said the ship had originated in Hong Kong and made stops in China before arriving in Seattle on Monday.

Terminal 18 covers nearly 200 acres, making it the port's largest container terminal and one of the largest in the nation. It serves more than 20 steamship lines and receives more than 40 vessels each month.

Greta was onboard that flight that was rerouted to Boston this morning.

False, she was on the same flight number earlier in the week.

Yep. And tickets for one airline do not mean that was 'go' day. Esp. since it is also alleged they would be doing a trial run.

If they really wanted to flag themselves, doing transatlantic flights back to back would've been a good way to do it.

There has got to be a better way to get in there to determine if there are explosives inside then by blowing the damn doors off.

Fox said this shipment started in Hong Kong and then went through Pakistan and then to Seattle. Isn't that a wrong turn somewhere??????? Who was driving. Capt. of the Exon Valdez?

Ships often run a type of circle route between various Asian and west coast ports. So if a ship runs between Seattle and Pakistan, why stop twice in Hong Kong both coming and going? That would waste time being piloted into and out of port, loading setup and shutdown, etc. so often it can be more efficient to just stop once. A lot of the cargo isn't very time sensitive.

And you can bet they will be sticking microphones in her face on tonight's news where she will be saying we are doing nothing to protect our ports - when in fact our port security did it's job which is the reason these containers were stopped.

The quoted officials mentioned the trial-run and the go-date being days apart, based on the tickets they found.

I'm not sure what you're nitpicking here. Do we know for an absolute certainty when they were going to do it? Of course not. There are indications that today was the day, nobody has denied that.

False,

Sorry, I got a snipet of a FOX News broadcast on the radio today. She was so excited and breathless in her coments, I made an assumption, thus making an A$$ of myself right here in front of all us FReepers.

Please forgive me.
