Tuscola County prosecutors filed terrorism-related charges Saturday against three men who they say bought dozens of cell phones Friday in Caro in a globally coordinated plot involving the Mackinac Bridge.
They charged brothers Adham Abdelhamid Othman, 21, and Louai Abdelhamied Othman, 23, along with their cousin, Maruan Awad Muhareb, 18, with identical counts of collecting material to support terrorist acts and surveillance of a vulnerable target with intent to committ terrorism.

I am sick of people whining about their rights while we are in a battle with people who want to kill all of us, including our children and granchildren. We suspended some civil rights during WWII, and they were restored after the war. The same thing should apply here.
I will defend your rights, and mine. Congress punted, and DID NOT declare war. Therefore any suspension of civil (or any) rights is unconstitutional. I know for certain that we are in a battle with evil people that want us dead. And one of the methods that they employ to that end is the exploitation if ignorance (not calling you ignorant) regarding technology.
Many others, including dakine, have attempted to clarify that the technology management is handled very well by private American technology. Yet some come along and quote news media as the ultimate source of knowledge and wisdom, further demanding the Executive branch to cripple communications. All dissenting opinion is branded "Bush-bashing". The purists of the Republican party are as despicable as those of the Democrat party. You both abandon conservatives and imperil our republic.

Yes, but no follow-up. I wish the other cases were handled that way. I remember hearing of cases during the past few year, but assumed they were turned down, and left.

The camera itself is not a deterrent, it is a tool to allow us to get to them before the deed, so that their death is in a time and manner of OUR choosing, not theirs.

there is no constitutional right to be able to buy an activated cell phone anonymously. as such, it can be regulated by rule of law. there are freepers (not you, I hope) who also think the security checks at airport check-in violate the 4th amendment. our constitution is not a suicide pact.
no one is talking about crippling national communications either. just some regulations.

using 100% nitric, it would eat thru enough corrosion and wire rope to make it separate due to the tension on it very quickly.....wire rope has lots and lots of surface and wonderful capillary action to distribute liquid. It is nothing at all like a single strand 24 1/2" diameter. My WAG would be a few minutes, max.

TATP only takes about 7 easy, hair raising steps to create but if you survive the process and are able to transport it without being blown to bits, it could quite easily take down a bridge if place correctly, and it can be remotely detonated.

It has A LOT to do with humiliation. But they're not like us when it comes to humiliation; i.e., they are humiliated not only when you kick them like a dog, but when you build things or accomplish things they can't. Thus they attack things like the WTC and the Mackinac bridge because it's obvious to them and to the whole world that their culture, left to its own devices, would never in a million years build anything more magnificent than a turd hut.
