KIEV, Ukraine – Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Azriel Chaikin and the Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Naomi Ben-Ami met with the leader of the Ukrainian Cossacks Anatoliy Schevchenko and the General Judge of Cossacks Igor Kozlovsky. At this meeting, the Cossack leaders assured the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine and the Israeli Ambassador of their support of Israel as it combats terrorism. As a dean of a local higher-education institution, Mr. Schevchenko said his teaching staff was doing everything possible to explain to their students the importance of supporting Israel as well as the need to fight against anti-Semitism and national and religious intolerance.
The Cossacks also announced that they were going to visit Israel on a solidarity mission at the invitation of Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Azriel Chaikin. The parties shared their opinions regarding the current situation in Ukraine and in Israel, the Israeli Ambassador expressing her hope that joint efforts of the international community aimed at resolving the current conflict and preventing such conflict in the future. At the end of the meeting, the Israeli diplomat thanked the Cossack leaders for their support and understanding of the Israeli position.
You could go a bit further back in history, say, to Khmelnytsky and his cossacks.
Now isn't that enough to bop an ox for a loop! I'll bet the Cossacks would love to have a go at the Hezzies!

The best part about Razin was his use of a split tree stump on sexual offenders. A culprit was forced to sit on a split stump [with his appendages in the slot] and then the splitting wedge was knocked out.
He paid for meting that kind of punishment( I wish that tecnique could be used on many of our sex offenders) in spades. I understand that he was brought back to Mockba in 1671 in chains. He was pushed down on the cobblestones on Red Square and quartered alive. What a way to go!

Certainly the past relationship between Ukrainian and Russian cossacks and Jews were often terrible, but looks like modern Cossacks understand that Jihadists today will go after Israel and tomorrow that go after the rest of the world, including Cossack lands in Russia and Ukraine.
In fact, Jihadists do go after the rest of the world too--the problem is too many in the rest of the world don't realize that.

This reminds me of a great book that I read about the Polish-Lithuanian Confederation and a war in the Ukraine against the Cossacks (Hmyelnitzki's Cossack revolution of 1640). The book is "With Fire and Sword" by Henry Sienkieiwicz. It may be out of print. It is a great book,
Yup, I am swearing at myself too, running a dial up here in rural Vermont at 33 KPS. So at least you can have the comfort of knowing that I am suffering as much as anybody else!
