Love is a Battlefield
IDF soldier received heart shaped cookie somewhere near the Lebanon border...
Not out of the loop, just avoiding getting drawn in. I've been up for an hour and am already losing steam.
Been following the tickers and most of the posts here.
Also been re-reading accounts of 1973.
It is hard to convey just how fluid the IDF chain of command is. It is militarily in a class by itself, outside of certain conflicts in the Crusades, and very hard to predict.
The best I can do is to say that IDF seems to function very very well in an environment where "orders" can be, in some cases, taken as "suggestions", from the tactical all the way to the operational level.
When the Chief of Staff can issue orders, and have those orders conveyed exactly opposite in intent from the theater commander to division CO's, even long time local observers have a hard time projecting.
Outsiders like us have lesser chances of accuracy.
All I'm really trying to say is that assumption is the mother of disappointment. I'm going to wait and watch and respond to what happens, while trying to avoid extrapolation.
I'm sorry, L, but ya gotta take that stuff with a grain of salt.
The UN's Record of "Peacekeeping" is quite deplorable, and is proven inneffective time after time....
Shepboy kept claiming last night that the ground war was off, not it is on. I think Fox doesn't have a clue. IF they had an inside track, they wouldn't be yelling the sky is falling all the time. They are clueless.
I may turn it off until Brit Hume comes back from vacation.
The last remaining obstacle, diplomats said, was language over withdrawals from southern Lebanon by both Israel and Hizbollah militia.

Thanks for the updates. Roger Hedgecock talking about this on Rush's show, says there will be many more casualities on both sides should the invasion go forth at this point because the element of surprise, that Israeli generals wanted to take advantage of, was lost.
Talking about the Jewish left in Israel now in disarray. Roger questioning the American Jewish Democrats...."where do YOU go from here?"
As much as I don't like Wes Clark, I would cheer right now if he would slap, slap, SLAP Shep and tell him to STOP BROADCASTING STRATEGIC DETAILS!!!!
LOL!
plenty of room for diplomacy- once the MESS is cleaned up....
DANG! It is not Israel unwilling to have peace! DUH!
(I am going to need a defibulator and a strong drink......just not a drink strong enough to make me try and sip from the defibulator.....)
;-)
Mr. AWAD...needs to be glad that all Muslims weren't put in camps like the Japanese were during WW2.
He talks too much. Every time he gets excited, the veneer (and it is a thin one) of profesionalism just falls away.
Writes that down to use at a future date! Hey kiddo! ;0)
I have felt that all along.
Both of them prompt my mute or channel changer button. They are the pits. Yesterday, Fox News actually had on BOB GRAHAM the nitwit Bush-hating loony former Dem Senator from FL. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Hope you're not waiting for that. /s
My bad, then.
