Acetone (nail polish remover) perhaps? See TATP, known among sand nazis as Mother of Satan because of its propensity to cause "work accidents". But a work accident high over the North Atlantic might work just as well as proper explosive preparation.

TATP was exactly what it was. Go to this link and you will read more about it and the US involvement in stopping this attack.:)

Remember when the fat pig Michael Moore wrote and also said in an interview the following?

"There is no terrorist threat.
You need to calm down, relax, listen very carefully, and repeat after me:
There is no terrorist threat.
There is no terrorist threat!
There... is... no... terrorist... threat!"

To think this nut sat in the guest of honor seat at the DNC.

Sounds like rot gut.... In all seriousness, I keep waiting for us to get serious about this war. I can't help but feel that almost every person in that part of the world wants to see us all die. Even Christian Amanpur seems to betray in her journalism. Zogby actually seems to hope we, along with all the Jews, die.

"Go against the driving forces -- the motive. The teachings and the teachers."

Look at the colleges and remove professors also teaching this crap. Note the planner was such an individual. They are recruiting white male teens with the promise of *ussy. When the student recruits actually get a little here on earth from the muslims, they want more in heaven through martyrdom. Sorry to sound crass, but if your going to address a problem and solve it you need to look at reality.

Sounds like the stuff was already synthesized. No way are you going to cook it on a plane.

To terrify the excremists you need to show a bit more imagination: "hang the 'suspects' - plain and simple." but not that simple: hang by the appendages, use somewhat elastic broad ribbon instead of a thinner rope, avoid the drop [use gentler lowering] - and do it in public!

Yes, it was already synthesized. Lots of mistakes in the early reports and some speculation also.

That's wild...I've had this framed quotation in my studio for years...it's a little different, but, barely...

"We sleep soundly in our beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on our behalf." Winston Churchill

So, I googled the phrase, with Winston's name and came up with a ton of sites listing it as such.

Then I googled the quote without Winston's name and came up with several sites with the quote beginning with "people" credited to Orwell. ?!?!?

Who knows? I guess maybe they both said it...fabulous quote whomever said it! ;-)

I don't know seems it has been credited to both men...see post #68.

The "leftest" media, helps out conservatives every day. They don't even have a clue!

A Muslim charity worker, an airport employee with an all access pass, wired funds from Pakistan. The UK police had powers to stop this, powers far greater than US cops. NYTimes should hang its head in shame.

Spin's already started. Ted Kennedy and Kerry blame Bush. That's why America's hated. That's why we're the target of attacks. They should stop shoveling it. After today, does anyone in his right mind buy it? Everything's politics, so lies are fine. Who cares if our enemies profit, if innocents die? Treason is a wonderful thing.

Some may think I am a bit into PC, but I am going to opine in any event that we need profiling of folks getting on airplanes. It is time to give Amish grandmothers a break. The way we are going, many will not want to fly, and it will disrupt commerce. In fact, it already has. I certainly won't fly unless there are compelling reasons to. (Actually I am going to fly soon to witness the canonization of a Catholic saint that founded an order of nuns in Indiana (it's a long story). I am going to Rome; I may be in the same room with the Pope. Some sacrifices are just worth it.) In any event, I was told today, that you can make an explosive out of powder. So ban all powders too. By the way, suppose the explosives are put in the cargo hold? That does not seem to be a concern. Is it a de-pressurization issue of the passenger area that is a concern, rather than the downing of the plane itself?

Speaking of Amish grandmothers and potentially explosive chemicals, remember whom among us have an unlimited supply of natural manure.

You can't legislate feces, people.

The concern currently is for binary explosive devices. Theoretically, a couple of guys each bring a bottle of soda on board. Except the soda isn't soda so when they combine the two the chemical reaction is enough to blow a hole in the side of the palne and depressurize.

The advantage to the deadeneders here is that there are no timing devices and nothing for the sniffers to alert to. Just two assholes looking for virgins in all the wrong places.

Among those arrested were a Muslim charity worker and a Heathrow Airport employee with an all-area access pass, according to Britain's Channel 4.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

Maybe the best plan is to profile and keep all the usual suspects away from each other on the plane, and allow only one beverage per person. Well, maybe not. :)

I have never heard of a "binary explosive device" before. It is grand that someone as old as moi can still learn something new. The trick now is to remember it!

One part of it has to react to the other ... therefore that part can be "sniffed".

Coke and Tums are not going to take out a plane ...

A chemical reaction requires at a minimum two chemicals that react. There are innocuous substances that presently can not be sniffed which when combined chemically can be detonated. There are even innocuous chemicasl that can't be sniffed that don't need a detonator. That's why you can't take that bottle of Powerade on the plane any more.

BTW amigo, binary liquid devices are nothing new. Ramsey Yousef was playing with them ten years ago. The liquid precursors can still not be reliably sniffed despite no matter what the coke and tums guy says.
