One part of it has to react to the other ... therefore that part can be "sniffed".

A chemical reaction requires at a minimum two chemicals that react. There are innocuous substances that presently can not be sniffed which when combined chemically can be detonated. There are even innocuous chemicasl that can't be sniffed that don't need a detonator. That's why you can't take that bottle of Powerade on the plane any more.

Obviously you are not suggesting that Powerade is a chemical formula that cannot be sniffed that we should be worried about -

But - you seem to imply that there are seemingly harmless chemicals in "un-sniffable" formulas that could cause problems - care to elaborate ?
