(CBS) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sat down with Mike Wallace in Tehran on Tuesday in a rare, exclusive interview with a Western reporter.
In the wide-ranging interview, the Iranian leader comments on President Bush's foreign policy, the lack of relations between Iran and the United States, Hezbollah, Lebanon and Iraq.
Speaking about President Bush's failure to answer his 18-page letter that criticized U.S. foreign policy, Ahmadinejad said, "Well, (with the letter) I wanted to open a window towards the light for the president so that he can see that one can look on the world through a different perspective. We are all free to choose. But please give him this message, sir: Those who refuse to accept an invitation will not have a good ending or fate. You see that his approval rating is dropping every day. Hatred vis-à-vis the president is increasing every day around the world. For a ruler, this is the worst message that he could receive. Rulers and heads of government at the end of their office must leave the office holding their heads high."
On what the "conducive conditions" would be for Iran to establish relations with the U.S., the president said, "Well, please look at the makeup of the American administration, the behavior of the American administration. See how they talk down to my nation. And this recent resolution passed about the nuclear issue, look at the wording. They have given us presented us with a package which we are studying right now. We even gave them a date for our response. Ignoring that, they passed a resolution. They want to build an empire. And they don't want to live side-by-side in peace with other nations. The American government, sir, it is very clear to me they have to change their behavior and everything will be resolved. (George W. Bush) believes that his power emanates from his nuclear warhead arsenals. The time of the bomb is in the past, it's behind us. Today is the era of thoughts, dialogue and cultural exchanges."
The report will be broadcast on 60 Minutes this Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
What a load of Crap! I don't recall anyone in our government calling for the complete destruction of another nation, like....hmmm.....I don't know Israel for instance. Oh wait didn't Ahmadinejad call for the desctruction of Israel?
You just know he isn't going to be asked about that, what the hell is CBS doing over there interviewing that nutsack? Why oh why can't we talk the MSM into becoming suicide bombers? How cool would it be if he walked into the interview and Wallace pulled a stick of TNT out of his butt and blew them all the heck!
CBS hurt themselves with the Rather/Mapes scandal big time -- and they deserved it, and more. Now they are trying to build ratings, by doing anything, and everything as usual, to get in the way of this administration.
Interviewing this pig was a mistake, but they cannot comprehend that.
Oops, sorry. I guess I didn't look back far enough. Well anyway here's an opportunity for Freepers who get up before the buttcrack of dawn.to see this.
Is Mike going to wear a Burka in the interview? Or is he just going to go down on his knees and bob awhile?
Tonight CBS Evening News will air the first part of Mike Wallace's interview with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. We've already gotten a preview, however, of Wallace's impressions of the Iranian leader:
Of Ahmadinejad, Wallace said, "He's an impressive fellow, this guy. He really is. He's obviously smart as hell."Wallace said he was surprised to find that the Iranian president was still a college professor who taught a graduate-level course.
"You'll find him an interesting man," he said. "I expected more of a firebrand. I don't think he has the slightest doubt about how he feels ... about the American administration and the Zionist state. He comes across as more rational than I had expected."
This is reminiscent of the way journalists and others would react after meeting Hitler. He wasn't a raving lunatic, like I expected! He was calm! Rational! Even Charming! (I wonder whether Ahmadinejad is a vegetarian.) What did Wallace expect? That a village idiot somehow ended up running a nation of 68 million?
Then there's this:
"He's actually, in a strange way, he's a rather attractive man, very smart, savvy, self-assured, good looking in a strange way," Wallace said. "He's very, very short but he's comfortable in his own skin."
What is this, a Tiger Beat interview? Just once, I wish MSM reporters would adopt the same adversarial attitude toward foreign leaders who are deadly enemies of the United States that they take toward members of the Bush administration.
I suppose it's possible that the interview, when it airs, will be a useful piece of journalism, but based on the previews, it doesn't appear likely.
Did Mike wear a condom?
Wallace is married to Machmood now
Is Mike going to wear a Burka in the interview? Or is he just going to go down on his knees and bob awhile?
***
You just reminded me of Dan Rather(not) who once went undercover with the rebels in Afghanistan during the war with the Soviets...wearing their robes and all and trying to blend in. It failed. Someone commented that a fifty dollar haircut still looks like a fifty dollar haircut even if it's mussed up a little.
LOL! What a maroon.
LOL!
"He's actually, in a strange way, he's a rather attractive man, very smart, savvy, self-assured, good looking in a strange way," Wallace said. "He's very, very short but he's comfortable in his own skin."
My thoughts...
#1 I feel sick, like I'm ready to lose lunch.
#2 I bet Satan is devastatingly handsome and comfortable in his skin, too.
#3 What planet did Wallace come from? It sure isn't Earth.
"And then, I knelt down, and unzipped the Presdient's zipper........"
I'm sure Mike gave the guy a reach-around.
Wallace came from Zatar. A distant universe with a bizzare mingling of both humaniods and non humanoids. Something like Ann Arbor Michigan.
I really can't imagine why anyone would be interested in hearing what Ahmadamnutjob has to say anyway.
Not if he was catching.
And it sounds as though he was.
LOL, this guy really is a comedian, to bad too many "Americans" will believe what he said. They are called Democrats and Rhinos.
