Many Democrats may hate the war in Iraq and itch to dump the president, but a new GOP survey shows that Republican base voters stand ready to jam the November polls to return their team to Congress. A three-page-survey memo obtained by Washington Whispers reveals that despite reports of some dissatisfaction with the economy, the war, and President Bush, 81 percent of Republican voters are "almost certain" to vote and an additional 14 percent say they are "very likely." It goes without saying that they'll vote Republican: By a margin of 84 percent to 6 percent, they will pull the GOP toggle switch in the voting booth. And here is something you don't hear very often: 88 percent of Republicans approve of how the prez is handling his job. What's it all mean? Analysts say that GOP voters are ready to dig in and play defense against the charges Democrats are tossing at Republican candidates.
The memo also helps to define what issues work for Republican candidates. The survey--officially tilted "Base Mobilization Survey Finds and Conclusions"--divided the issues into foreign and domestic. On the foreign side, it's all terrorism and war with polling that finds GOP voters back the war, worry about Democratic attacks on the fight against terrorism, and think the Patriot Act, moves to tighten the border, and even telephone surveillance are good things. And their favorite domestic issues aren't a surprise: They are pro-tax cuts, big on cultural values, and worried that Democrats want to put too much bureaucracy in healthcare. Another nonshocker: They don't like the media's war stories, thinking that they are too negative. Some 60 percent of the GOP base expresses "extremely high dissatisfaction" with the coverage of the war.
That's a given. Clearly.
Ha! Staggering difference? You can't be serious, at least when it comes to the Washington, DC contingent of both parties. As I said in my post, I'll feel safer with the Republicans in charge, but they'll only be keeping me alive to feed the monster in Washington. The Republicans are all talk and very little action when it comes reducing the size and scope of government, an issue that is every bit as important as the WOT. they couldn't even get rid of low flow toilets, for crying out loud. How pathetic is that?

Well, moving towards socialism is moving towards socialism. It is simply splitting hairs to point out that one party is doing it more slowly than another since, either way, it is going to happen. I may not feel the full effects of this in my lifetime, but those that come after me deserve a better fate than what they'll be handed.
And I'm not cutting and running, but simply stating my utter disgust with all things Washington. I will most likely hold my nose and vote for the worthless Republicans that will be on the ballot in November.
When did the entire congress become conservative, besides in the minds of the DUmmies?
Perhaps you will end up like one of your DUmmie friends...he crawled into a corner after hearing the results of the 2004 election and proceeded to weep, drool and piss himself for three days & then he had to face the facts. Sounds like you are heading in that direction.

I will be voting my principles also, and no amount of childish FR peer pressure will change that. Fortunately for you, Alabama has great conservative representive in my area, but faced with some choises some states have, third party would be my vote. Deal with it.

In the run-up to Reagan's defeat of Jimmy Carter one of the networks had a phone-in poll where, for a dollar, you could call in your vote. You wouldn't believe the number of people who spent their dollar to say they didn't know. The extent of what they "didn't know" must be spectacular.
Because it's cheaper than "out of planet" tuition.

I couldn't be more serious. In addition to the national security aspect, we have several STAGGERING differences.
If you can't see the significant differences, you're not viewing the parties objectively.
That's easy. This is a list of the Leftist organizations who are pushing the Dems. Starting with International A.N.S.W.E.R, George Soros and his Moveon.org crowd, these are the people who defeated Joe Lieberman and who now surround Ned Lamont.
Regarding illegal immigration, here's some of their demands (click here for source):
The legalization of all immigrants, meaning permanent legal residence, with the option of citizenship.Residence with civil and labor rights, meaning labor rights to be guaranteed to all workers, present and future, without discrimination based on nationality or national origin, gender, sexual preference, language or religion. This includes wage parity, the right to organize unions, the right to strike and other forms of struggle to improve labor conditions. They see permanent legal residence as the only solution to guarantee civil and labor rights for international workers.
Stopping deportations. They say, "In the face of mass mobilizations on behalf of immigrants at the national level, the government has used deportations as a way of menacing this first movement for civil rights of the 21st century. We denounce these selective raids as a violent tactic that has no place in the debate on immigration reform." The oppose state and local police being given authority to arrest illegal aliens, and they go one better. They also "reject state laws that regulate immigration issues."
They are opposed to a guest worker program, and what they call militarization of the border.
Essentially what they are talking about is the destruction of U.S. sovereignty,

Run Conservatives, and they will get my vote. I don't expect perfection, impossible goal, but do expect more than lip service from a canidate.
That is, after all, how we got Bill Clinton...and there's no telling who the next beneficiary will be.
We also got a conservative Congress because of Clintoon backlash, a congress that was heck bent (for the most part) on not supporting liberal agendas. We got a balanced budget and we controlled legislation the way it should be controlled (for the most part again).

Sorry, you lost me here... Didn't know what? The reason Carter lost was because He was a weak minded little appeaser (and still is X10) and the general public wanted a strong conservative America. Reagan was my first conservative vote cast (first time to get to vote at 18, and I will not say which election that was). I plan to keep voting conservative Christian, if neither candidate can conform to those point, they will soon learn to look that way next time they run for election. Otherwise there is NO incentive to run conservative Christian in the future.
My vote is for the future, without voters like myself, that position is soon lost in the political quagmire.
