Threat Level Change for the Aviation Sector
The U.S. threat level is raised to Severe, or Red, for all commercial flights flying from the United Kingdom to the U.S.
The U.S. threat level is raised to High, or Orange for all commercial aviation operating in the U.S., including international flights. Flights from the U.S. to the U.K. are also Orange.
All travelers on commercial U.S. carriers and on all flights into the U.S., please be advised of the following changes to airport screening procedures:
NO LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED IN CARRY ON BAGGAGE. ITEMS MUST BE IN CHECKED BAGGAGE. This includes all beverages, shampoo, sun tan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency.
Exception: Baby formula and medicines must be presented for inspection at the checkpoint.
Beverages purchased in the boarding area (beyond the checkpoint) must be consumed before boarding because they will not be permitted on board the aircraft.
Passengers traveling from the U.K. to the U.S. will be subject to a more extensive screening process.
These measures will be constantly evaluated and updated when circumstances warrant.
How every passenger can assist in security:

Well at least any attacks won't be carried out by little old ladies, because TSA is damn sure paying attention to those suspects.
But thank God we haven't begun racial profiling, because we all know that Islam is a religion of peace.
Thank you very much, Abdul has now left the terminal for his departing flight.

Can we please keep the rancor down today...this is a day we need to stay focused on the real enemy....the jihadists....not the TSA.

Red is what we never wanted to see...an attack is imminent. I'd rather see a warning that an attack is imminent - rather than see a report that an attack occurred.
In this case, it looks like the system worked.

Weakest link in a chain my FRiend, and the TSA has been less than optimal (to put it nicely) thanks to Norman Mineta and his politically correct horsesh*t and we all know it.
This is EXACTLY the time to ramp up the rancor because perhaps SOMEbody will pay attention, eh?

The "Red" flights were not screened by TSA, but rather by British screeners.

They are a tad busy right now to be reading posts on FR...trying to stop a plane blowing up over our heads.

Yup - and on the heels of that ludicrous Lefty Lamont-MoveOn.Org victory in Konnecticut.
HELLO - we are at war whether we want to be or not.
The Dems are like children putting their hands over their ears so they won't hear something unpleasant.

This includes all beverages, shampoo, sun tan lotion, creams, tooth paste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. My hubby and son are flying to Canada next week for a family reunion (hubby was Canadian.) They always pack light and hate to check luggage but just take carry on. I told them they'll just have to leave the "toiletries" at home and buy some when they get to their destination if they want to take just carry on.
This is going to create huge back-ups at the airport because not everybody will know about the notices and many people carry their toiletries with them in a carry-on.

High, or Orange for all commercial aviation operating in the U.S., including international flights I hope the threat level goes down and the restrictions are dropped before I go to Canada and Alaska next month.
To: Dog
When they say that the attacks were being planned by Amish Teenagers and Campfire Girls.. - then we'll all let up on the PC/TSA/GVT/BS that is going to get many, may of us killed.

I hope, very large warning signs will be posted at places where the passenger is only a short distance from the baggage check areas.

No duh. And I would be willing to bet the rent that our friends in the UK were not worried about whether or not the suspects were of the Islamofascist persuasion.
Here in the U.S., you can be sure that the elevated threat level will encompass the usual politically correct nonsense that will one day get a whole bunch of people killed.
That is the long and short of it.

Well at least any attacks won't be carried out by little old ladies, because TSA is damn sure paying attention to those suspects.Actually, smart-mouth, I recently read an advisory that believes Al Qaeda may utilize elderly Muslims, dressed in civilian clothing for suicide attacks.
People like you are so myopic that you cannot understand our enemy is very agile in changing tactics to thrwart our best efforts.
PS: A person could slip explosive components into an elderly citizen's handbag, completely unnoticed and very easily and then retrieve these onboard for assembly into a bomb.
Think before you post.
