A major terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight has been disrupted by police, Scotland Yard says.
It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on board aircraft in hand luggage.
During the night, police arrested a number of people in London after a counter-terrorist operation they said had lasted several months.
Police believe the attacks would have been particularly targeted at flights from the UK to the US.
The Department for Transport said security at all UK airports has been increased.
Passengers on all flights will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK.
Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags.
I think the first planes would have blown up as they circled New York and at the same time all the others would have been triggered as well.
Well, wait until Shepherd Smith makes his guess....70 - 80 at least.

No kidding. I made mention earlier of "lotion", "aftershave", "shampoo", and some other liquids that one could not be reasonably expected to drink. This is total bullsh!t. Must I be made to travel naked? I guarantee you that it is not all that appealing to anyone besides my loving wife.

And again, the time when a flight is "circling New York" would be hard to synchronize. Some are late more than others. Some traffic backs up more than others.

Unrelated, but strangely earlier tonight I had a phone call, a wrong number. It came up unknown name, unknown caller, and the Arab sounding voice asked for Yasser. I said he had the wrong number and he said 'there is no one there named Yasser?' and I again said no. I later joked with my husband that I should have said 'Arafat?, no he's dead'. Just really weird to me now in light of what's just occurred. Never had such a phone call before asking for anyone with an arab name.
Skinner isn't bright enough to do that. The FBI is going to be busy enough as it is, now, without having to worry about the damned DUmmies.
Spain is now canceled ALLL flights to England, so is Lufthansa.
I sure hope so. These planes took of three hours ago, so I expect they will be approaching the east coast in a couple hours.
Maybe they'll make them land in Canada like on 9/11...
