A major terrorist plot to blow up planes in mid-flight has been disrupted by police, Scotland Yard says.
It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled on board aircraft in hand luggage.
During the night, police arrested a number of people in London after a counter-terrorist operation they said had lasted several months.
Police believe the attacks would have been particularly targeted at flights from the UK to the US.
The Department for Transport said security at all UK airports has been increased.
Passengers on all flights will not be allowed to take any hand luggage on to any flights in the UK.
Only the barest essentials - including passports and wallets - will be allowed to be carried on board in transparent plastic bags.

This makes the 11, (now 8), missing Egyptian students more curious, IMO.
We are supposed to fly through London on August 24
but if Armageddon occurs on August 22
I suppose the flight will be cancelled
so we won't have to worry.
Man this is freighting. I have a very bad feeling.
Could there be a connection with the 11 Egyptians that turned up missing in the U.S.?
Maybe that is the reason the U.S. was not releasing too much info on these men, and making it sound like there is no terrorist threat - not wanting to tip our hand that could of interrupted the investigation by Scotland Yard on the UK connection.

Nope, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you?
So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone because of profiling.
Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Allreds and other dunder-headed attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly ashamed of themselves - if they have any such sense.

One of the Alqueda rules is that "after a plan is "in operation", there is to be no communication. THAT'S what bothers me.
Could be. If we had alerted people about the 11 (even if they were not terrorist) we might make the terrorist go underground.

I book a seat with a seat in front, room enough to put my train case and travel hand bag (large one) under the seat in my foot space.
Have no idea how I'm going to travel with all my toiletries that can leak packed in a suitcase, and no breathmints, toothpaste, lipstick, to keep my mouth free running and sanitary.
I guess they'll let me take my stomach medication, but it's over the counter now. I get bleeding ulcers without it. Little wonder with the people overseas who want to blow us up and the people here who want to let them.

When we get alerts one week after the fact of their disappearing, we're looking for a wiggle. We got three out of that news output!!
depressingly enough, I only got 12 out of 14...
And....don't mention anything about those that are getting across our wide open borders with the sole intent on killing us. It's not "politically correct".
They wanted the most for their buck. I dont see them blowing up the flights over the ocean.
