Ned Lamont: Pink Diaper Baby With Silver Spoon In Mouth
Democracy Project ^ | August 9, 2006 | Democracy Project

Posted on 08/09/2006 4:16:48 PM PDT by FFIGHTER

MSM reporters repeatedly comment about how the anti-war Ned Lamont, now official Democrat Party candidate for U.S. Senator from Connecticut, is paradoxically a wealthy businessman.

If these MSM reporters had any research skills, they would report both his financial and ideological inheritance.

Ned Lamont’s father, Corliss Lamont, was a brilliant, very wealthy by inheritance, communist fellow-traveler through the ‘30’s and ‘40’s and ‘50’s, who continued in such anti-U.S. foreign policy crusades on to his death in 1995, having opposed the 1991 Persian Gulf War.

In 1934, Corliss Lamont identified himself to former communist Max Eastman as a “Truth Communist,” saying he – according to Eastman – “did not accept the policy of political lying to the masses practiced by the official communist parties under Stalin.” However, 1n 1938, Eastman wrote to Lamont that,

[Y]ou continued to run with the Stalinist chiefs. You never exposed their political lies, or said publicly what you said to me in private. For a very long time you played friends with both Lie Communists and Truth communists, and gave your money with one hand to the Stalinists and with the other to independent revolutionary papers…Anybody who plays both sides in quiet times will be found in a crisis on the side of power….

Is he a relative of the author Annie Lamont?

Communists Support Democrat Takeover

August 4th, 2006

It’s Friday, so I thought I’d provide some comic relief.

The Communist Party USA is becoming excited about the prospect for a Democrat takeover of Congress. They appear to find common cause with other “progressives” in the Democrat Party.

The CPUSA is throwing its support behind John Tester, who is running against Conrad Burns in Montana, and millionaire Ned Lamont, the millionaire who is taking on Joe Lieberman in Connecticut, .

They write, “Lamont can make a positive contribution toward changing control and direction of congress. The Lamont campaign is creating a lot of energy that will spill over into the whole election process.”

Funny proposition that the anti-capitalist CPUSA would be happy about a wealthy millionaire becoming the next senator from Connecticut. Leftist hypocrisy seemingly knows no bounds.

Because the rep. candidate has some serious problems of his own and doesn't stand a snow balls chance in hell of winning, I would probably break my record of never having voted for a democrat and vote for Lieberman if I lived in Connecticut. (lesser of two evils)

Lieberman is right on one issue, the same can't be said for Lamont.

Bad fact-checking here that gives the whole article a black eye. Corliss was Ned's great-uncle, not his father.

Wow! I didn't realize he was Corliss Lamont's son. That name is a blast from the past and it sure isn't a pleasant one.

Just read your post. You're right, while it is obviously true that the whole Lamont family is pretty poisonous, this article should be corrected if we're talking about two different - even related - Corliss Lamonts.

Nowadays this commie connection is condoned and even celebrated within the Democrat party. This will probably help Lamont!

Anyone who dares to bring up Ned's family background will immediately be labeled an extremist McCarthyite. To the establishment, the McCarthyism is more of a threat than commie extremism. Or islamic extremism, for that matter.

My former friend, Joe Lieberman, is damaged goods also. But when compared with Ned Lamont, Joe is a saint.

This article provides some very useful insight into Ned Lamont, the person. You know what they say about an apple falling close to the tree (including a rotten apple).

This may not seem like a typical "moral absolutes" ping. However, this article completely exposes Ned Lamont's Communist-Stalinist upbringing and gives a hint of what he might bring to the US Senate.

From Wikipedia:

"Lamont is the great-grandson of former J.P. Morgan & Co. Chairman Thomas W. Lamont, and has a self-reported net worth valued between $90 million and $300 million, [6] and the grand nephew (not the grandson, as has been widely reported) of Corliss Lamont who was a director of the American Civil Liberties Union from 1932 - 1954.[7]On July 17 the Waterbury Republican-American reported the assessed value of Lamont's Greenwich home was $30 million.[6] His father, Ted (Edward M. Sr.), was an economist who worked with the Marshall Plan which helped reconstruct Europe after World War II.[8]
