Massacre In Israel - Lebanon Hezbollah Rockets Murder 14

By Joel Leyden
Israel News Agency

Tel Aviv----August 6......Hezbollah terror Katusha rockets continued to rain down on Israel civilians, murdering 14 this afternoon in Kfar Giladi.

"It was a direct hit on a crowd of people," Dan Ronen, the chief of the Israel northern police command, told Israel Army Radio. Convoys of police and rescue vehicles raced to the scene of the massacre. "This was the most difficult thing I could have imagined in my career. There are nine bodies here covered in blankets, around us cars are going up in flames," Army Radio reporter reported as she choked back tears. "On one side is the cemetery, on the other side are the nine young bodies waiting for burial."

Israel's equivalent to the Red Cross - Magan David Adom stated that many others were seriously wounded as the rocket from Lebanon slammed into a meeting area between Kfar Giladi and Tel-Hai in the upper Galilee on the Israel Lebanon border.

Witnesses near Kiryat Shomena, which has been hardest hit in recent days, said that Katusha attack from Lebanon was going on more than 15 minutes after it had begun. Witnesses stated that this had hampered emergency services from reaching the scene.

One Israel emergency rescue service reported at least two rockets directly hit homes. Katusha rockets also landed in Nahariya and Karmiel, Rosh Pina and Safed.

On Sunday morning, At least seven rockets were fired at northern Israel on Sunday morning, causing no injuries or damage. Two rockets struck the Golan Heights, three landed near the village of Ma'alot, and two fell in an open area in the city of Safed.

This latest barrage of rockets follows a weekend in which three people were killed when a rocket scored a direct hit at their home in a western Galilee Arab-Israeli town. The three were a 60-year-old woman and her two daughters, both in their 30s. They were all in the same room at the time of the strike. They were later identified as Fadya Juma, 60, and her daughters Samira, 33, and Sultana, 31. Some 170 rockets landed in Israel throughout Saturday, with 120-130 of those falling in one hour in the late afternoon.

Over 100 Israelis have been murdered, including 44 members of the military and 30 civilians, according to authorities. Among the latest deaths are three Israel Arabs killed by Hezbollah's rockets in the villages of Mughar, Majdel Krum and Dir el-Assad. Three Israeli soldiers were killed in fighting with Hezbollah.

The US based monitoring group Human Rights Watch (HRW) Humanitarian organization has called on Hezbollah to immediately stop launching rockets into civilian areas within Israel, saying their actions constitute "war crimes." The rights watchdog said Hezbollah's assertions that it is targeting military bases within Israel are offset by the fact that most attacks have been aimed at schools, hospitals and businesses.

Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch, said: "Lobbing rockets from Lebanon blindly into Israel civilian areas is without doubt a war crime. Nothing can justify this assault on the most fundamental standards for sparing civilians the hazards of war."

Ma'ayan Levy, a witness to the Katusha rocket attacks on Israel civilians by Lebanon Hezbollah at Kibbutz Kfar Giladi stated: "We did not start this war, Israel is defending herself from unprovoked Islamic terror cross-border attacks." Levy added: "When Israel hears of civilians dying in Lebanon our hearts are saddened, when children die, we as mothers and as Israelis cry, but when Hezbollah murders our civilians and children Hezbollah, Syria and Iran celebrate. How does one fight an enemy as barbaric as this?"

Unlike the Schmuslems and the Hez-balla wackos, we value our soldiers. We don't seek "martyrs" - we want our men to survive. By the way: the Schmualems like it when their dead rip the guts out of children while they are blowing themselves up in places such as Sbarros, which are frequented by families.

What you're stating is the Hezbollah,Hammas,Iran, Syria, et al do not think Israel is a target.

Your post defies intellectual thought, command of current events and points toward your bias.

Be gone with you.

Death followed the launch and it killed Israelis.

Oh, it's not defined as a missile, rather it's a rocket.

It, being the projectile fired, lacks guidance.

Sadly, somewhere along your life timeline, you did as well.

You are the one that is below being disingenuos.

G-D Bless you.

Captain Uri Lavie, a company commander in the Golani Brigade briefing his soldiers “ nine months into their military service “ a few minutes before joining the battle against Hizballah terrorists in southern Lebanon ("Ha'aretz, July 27, 2006):

"This is our time to rise to the challenge, put on the helmets and the bullet proof vests and make sure that the northern border is secure.

We shall fulfill any mission in a most effective manner, in face of any challenge.

If we shall not fulfill our mission we shall forfeit the right to exist.

We shall not lose this war, which we did not start.

Our duty is to serve as a defense force of the Jewish People, and to secure the peace of mind of the civilians in northern Israel.

If we shall not do it, no one will do it in our place.

For two thousand years we waited for the establishment of the Jewish State, and we are not going to roll back because a bunch of terrorists assume that they can scare us.

He who cannot defend Liberty does not deserve Liberty.

If we will not be able to fight until our last drop of blood, in order to secure the Liberty of our People on its own soil, our People will not enjoy Liberty.

There is time to talk and there is time to act. At this time, when missiles and Katyushas afflict the North all the way to Haifa, in addition to the two kidnapped soldiers, the ten soldiers killed and the dozens injured, it is time to fight and not to talk. We are the force, which has been chosen to fight, and we shall perform in the most effective manner.

I will be the first one to enter the battle and the last one to come out, and will do everything in my power to get you out alive and well. On Friday, with G-D's help, we will rejoin with our families. However, I cannot do it alone. Once we cross the northern border, you should exercise full alert and full responsibility toward your fellow soldier."

"Soldiers are fair game in anybody's war hardly a "war crime"."

Aiming at civilian locations is a war crime, regardless of whether soldiers are at the location at the time or not.

What can I say? It's Bibi at his best. He really is the man for this time and we have spoken of him with great admiration here on the forum.

Was he only allowed one term as PM, or can he try for it again? What would be the parliamentary procedure to get him into power ASAP?

G'd morning to you!

Netanyahu was beaten in elections by Barak - who was helped greatly by Clinton and his PR people. Netanyahu then lost the leadership of Likud - his Parlimentary party - to Sharon. He is once again leader of Likud, who suffered a heavy set-back in th recent elections. Netanyahu will first of all have to beat off a challenge for the leadership of Likud. Then there has to be new elections.

IIRC the new Israeli basic law makes the PM more powerful, so if the present coalition falls due to a motion of no confidence in the Knesset, it is up to Olmert to either try to form a new coalition or call for a general election.

It appears that the war has opened up a lot of cracks not only within the coalition, but wthin Olmert's own party, Kadima.

It will be interesting to see how this will play out in the coming months. My own guess - and hope - is that changes within the political community in Israel, and among the voters, will make any further retreats and handover of land to the Arabs politically impossible, whomever is PM.

I would think there would not be a vote of no confidence during wartime, barring a serious blunder. Olmert was severely reprimanded when he spoke last week of removing 15 families from the West Bank, IIRC, and had to retract his statement. However, he has been saying this for more than year, he believes in surrendering land.

Is Olmert French?

P.S. This is a good thread too. I hope Israel Beach comes back when possible to update us. :)

True. Israel killed 10 times more civilians then Hezzies. So who commited bigger war crimes?

"Israeli reservists or civilians?
Makes no difference as these Hezbollah terror rockets were launched from Lebanon and landed in civilian populated areas. That constitutes a war crime. We are angry in Israel today. Very angry. And Hezbollah and the Lebanese who support them will feel it!"

God speed my Israeli brothers! Mercy is provided by the good guys only. We in free world always maintain this, as we did during WWII. The Japanese were especially horrendous in our treatment of POW's for example, starving, torturing and marching them to death while the Japanese POW's had three square meals a day, cots and buildings to sleep in. The Japanese and Hezbollah are equally fanatical and devious in their actions. Hezbollah, Iran and Syria will pay a heavy price and be destroyed before it's all over I am sure.

We should all cry for innocents killed on both sides, but the world press focuses on Lebanese suffering only! It's disgusting and we in America know better!

The prophets and Christ warned that in the end-times the bad guys team up against the good guys and a final global war is fought killing 1/3 of mankind but the good guys win. Anti-christ comes into power. Whomever or whatever this power is kills without second thought. Hezbollah certainly fits into this kind of description as do other states that sponsor them from Iran, Syria, North Korea all the way to the superpowers such as China and Russia that supply them weapons and money for proxy war.

"Either way, is there any anti-missile missile system available that Israel can deploy to help stop the incoming Hezzie rockets? A few weeks ago, I saw a demonstration film put out by an Israeli manufacturer showing such a system. If not yet ready for operation, can the US ship any military hardware over in the meanwhile to minimize the threat?"

They have Patriot missles for the bigger, long-range rockets but thus far Hezbollah has not used them or Israel has destroyed them. The Patriots guard the larger population centers to the south but do little good against smaller, short range rockets landing in the north and causing casualties.

They also have the ARROW system which is a ground-based laser defense system for smaller rockets. This is being used as we speak.

What was interesting was watching a live feed where the cameraman said he heard a "zap" and covered his camera, stating he had to do this under instruction from Israeli defense. I assumed he was referring to this system firing to attempt to shoot incoming down. I believe this system is the reason we're seeing only tens of casualties in northern Israel instead of hundreds.

Bibi will be PM in Israel during the last "peace" deal Israel signs. This may be this current situation or one in the future, but it's the final peace deal before the great tribulation. I was shown this in a prophetic dream right after Ehud Barak was elected. I thought the dream was odd, because here in America a President cannot be re-elected and only realized in the last two years that this is possible in Israel.

no doubt. this has gone on for too long. U.S & Canada will be next.
Is it me or are we taking this too lightly. I would bet osama & his likes are in on this. But can we finish this and make the western world safe again. I would be willing to bet that there are plans in the works for an attack on North American soil.
I really hope not. there is enough death & suffering.
I wish that there weren't any innocents being hurt in all this
but then again these kids are born with guns in hand

Do you have any proof that Israel was aiming at civilian targets that were exclusive of hezbollah?

Hezbollah has aimed at targets that had no military use.
