Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Thursday called on Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to resign, hours after excoriating him at a public hearing over what she called "failed policy" in Iraq.
"I just don't understand why we can't get new leadership that would give us a fighting chance to turn the situation around before it's too late," the New York Democrat and potential 2008 presidential contender said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I think the president should choose to accept Secretary Rumsfeld's resignation."
"The secretary has lost credibility with the Congress and with the people," she said. "It's time for him to step down and be replaced by someone who can develop an effective strategy and communicate it effectively to the American people and to the world."

Yes, it was. But you know, and Hillary was counting on, the MSM will only play soundbites of her dressing down Rumsfeld. They won't play Rummy's correcting of hillary's lies and exaggerations.

It was indeed, I just watched the rerun (still on actually) and Rummy and Pace took her to task, Abizaid was silent on her comments....appropriately so I would say -- as hers was a political hit job. She spewed and split. As soon as she was fininshed she got up and left, kind of funny, imo. She is an embarrasment to the senate and to this committee. She is so transparent, she sees what is happening to Lieberman, and she knows she is on the hit-list, so to speak, of the liberal daily kos kids, and she has to move to the left. She was awful today, rude, mean, wrong, overall quite bitchy; showing her true colors.
Put me on the list demanding Hillary's resignation.

I can't think of anyone more qualified to handle the Defense Dept than Rumsfeld. For my grandchildren's sake, I hope that he continues what he is doing and I also hope that Ms Clinton is rendered as insignificant as her hubby is. Neither one was good for America, IMHO......
