Israel has been bombarded alternately with thousands of rockets and with hundreds of articles decrying its "disproportionate" and "immoral" response. Israel's sovereignty is abused and its citizens are attacked, kidnapped and terrorized, and the world clamors to condemn Israel's response.

On the one hand, you have a soldier pushing a child behind him so that he can protect the child. On the other, you have a Hizbullah fighter pushing a child in front of him so that he can be protected by the child. In the ensuing gun battle, the latter child gets hurt and the Hizbullah terrorist is seen as the victim. Which of these actions should be viewed as being disproportionate and immoral? Would it be that of the soldier, or that of the Hizbullah terrorist? Or perhaps that of the world media?

In the recent past, Hizbullah leaders have boasted of their ability to destroy Israel because the Jews revere life while the Muslims glorify death. When a Hizbullah rocket killed two Israeli Arab children in Nazareth, the world viewed the tragedy as a sad accident of war. The terrorists weren't trying to kill Arab children, they were just trying to kill Jewish ones. Yet, when Israel attacks a Hizbullah stronghold and one of its missiles cause a house to collapse on civilians living in the basement, the world expresses outrage, not sadness.

Sky News reporter David Bowden, "As a correspondent it is my job to tell you the facts as I see them... and here are the facts of what happened at Qana.... a superior military power launched a devastating and deadly attack on scores of women and their children, most of whom are now dead."

The fact is that the accidental death of innocent men, women and children is simply a very sad tragedy.

Disproportionate response in a battle? Since when have they passed laws on this issue. When someone crosses your borders kills eight of your soldiers and kidnaps two others that is an act of war. You fight wars to win victory not public opinion. Fight a PC war and you will get your a$$ handed to ya.

I don't think there are all that many people who are criticizing Israel. There are the usual Left wing hand-wringers who can't do anything except moan about "can't we just all get along".
But there aren't any countries rushing to defend Hezbollah - not even the Arab ones. Sure, they *say* they condemn Israel, but they aren't doing anything.

And I'm one of those who is mighty suspicious about what actually killed the children in Qana.

The facts about Quana is that Israel hit a launching site right next to the building and it did not collapse. It did however collapse the next morning with women and children and no men in it.

The bodies that were recovered were not smashed, and the rescue workers were in clean clothes as if they did not even have to dig, yet the bodies were covered in dust. The same bodies were shown as being found over and over in different locations.

It was also reported that people covered their faces at the mass burial due to the stench of the bodies, yet they were buried the very next day.

The facts tend to point towards the Hezbollah blowing up the building for a media soundbite using bodies scavenged up for that purpose.

Disproportionate response in a battle?

That line reminds me of how many of my liberal friends will often note that there is a lack of a balance of power since the Pubbies have the WH, the Senate, the House, a majority of Governorships and a majority of state legislatures (actually most don't mention the last two.)

When I remind them that in 1968 the Democrats had the WH, the Senate with 68 seats, the House with 295 and a majority of the Governorships and the state legislatures it suddenly becomes "time-to-pull-up-another-subject-time."
