Baalek is East and slightly North of Beiruit and near the Syrian border. If this story is true, the IDF is not operating just in southern Lebanon.

I expected this thread to be packed with posts from those FReepers who've been condemning Israel for their wimping out and pulling back, and Bush for trying to stop them from wiping out the Hezbos. Weird how they haven't shown up... ;)

Baalbak is virtually the capital of hezzbollah.

The real sphincter-clincher is that the place is probably crawling with Syrian security, advisors, and maybe even troops.

I would have typed hugh instead of huge, but my beeber went off and distracted me just as I was going to take a shower.

This is North lebanon on the border with syria. DEEP in lebanon.

baalbeck is a terrorist stronghold in Northern lebanon
baalbeck has some of the biggest and best roman ruins outside of italy.

Baalbak is virtually the capital of hezzbollah.

Also rich in ancient Roman ruins. If true, it looks like the IDF is going add to the ruins.

This is the Bekaa Valley attack that we've been waiting for since 2003. Israel knows the WMDs are there and that they have to take them out before the inevitable WMD strike on the Israeli population.

Maybe huh? Makes sense...

Wow, that is deep in indian territory. Very interesting. Here are coordinates which can be copied and pasted into Google Earth:

Baalbeck: 34° 0' 0N 36° 12' 0E

IIRC, this is where Saddam was rumored to have stashed his WMD's.
