CAIRO, July 30 (Reuters) - Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak condemned as "irresponsible" on Sunday an Israeli air strike on the Lebanese village of Qana that killed at least 40 Lebanese civilians, including 23 children.
"The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its profound alarm and its condemnation of the irresponsible Israeli bombing of the Lebanese village of Qana, which resulted in innocent casualties, mostly women and children," a statement from the president's office published by the state news agency MENA said.
The Qana air strike occurred as U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was in Jerusalem on a mission to get Israel and Lebanon to agree on an international force to deploy on the border as part of a ceasefire deal.
The attack prompted Lebanon to tell Rice she was unwelcome in Beirut before a ceasefire.
Mubarak, who had earlier said that Israel's actions had gone "way too far" in Lebanon, repeated an earlier call for an immediate ceasefire and said the calm would pave the way for "diplomatic action to end the causes of the current deterioration".
Don't these numbers sound odd to anyone? Total killed 40, 23 children + 17 adults. How many of the 'civilians were really hezbolah soldiers? How many were teenage muslim boys thinking they were on some great jihad for allah? Something is weird with the numbers being reported...
But then they had a report last night posted that said one guy had 2 wives and 19 children in his home when the IDF 'called him to tell him he was being targetted.' He got his butt out and 25 minutes later they bombed.
FoxNews was saying that among the victims, no men of fighting age were found, which suggests these might be families of Hezbollah fighters.
Is it just me, or is it strange that so many children were in that building? Families had been warned by radio and leaflets for two or three days in a row, and the town had already been under siege for days. An Israeli spokesman said most people had already evacuated. Anyone would protect their kids and get them out of the area first. Reports I've heard range from 21 to perhaps 30 children in that bomb shelter basement.
As terribly tragic as these 57 deaths are, supposedly about 100 people are killed every day in Iraq. But this event is being played to the hilt by world leaders, Hezbollah and the media as though it were the most shocking disaster of our time. They're all jumping on the bandwagon as a new reason to condemn Israel. So it really seems to be more about an outlet for anger towards Israel than the tragedy itself.
I'm sure Hezbollah sees it as a victory for their cause. The old 'victim' strategy right out of the Cindy Sheehan handbook: play the victim, then when you become the victim, you 'win'.
The hypocracy here is nothing short of staggering. Hezbollah sheilds themselves behind women and children, but thats ok and no one speaks out against them because theyre terrorists and fighting to destroy the "Zionist enemy." But when thier rockets rain down indiscriminently on Isreal, thats ok. And once again, everyone calls for immediate cease fire, which if Isreal were to agree to, would result in instant victory for the terrorists.
Apparently some of us posted some of this same info at the same time.
That is great! Let the fighting continue! Without a cease fire, Hezbollah terrorists will continue to be killed.
Oh, and please excuse me while I attempt to shed a tear for the families of the Hezbollah terrorists killed in this latest bombing. There, I tried.
Period.
They have no shame. They lie and decieve as a matter of course as is the nature and teachings of their religion and culture. Good and evil have never been so graphically presented as it is when comparing the Arab Muslim world to the state of Israel.
That we care even a whit about the alleged "sufferings of the innocent Arab Muslims" is a reflection of how we've allowed ourselves to become dependent on their petroleum reserves while foolishly failing to depend on our own ignored and undeveloped energy resources.
"The so-called Lebanese "government" is responsible. If their Army cannot of will not control Hizbollah then they are not a sovereign government, and it falls to Israel to do so. "
Thank you.
"That we care even a whit about the alleged "sufferings of the innocent Arab Muslims" is a reflection of how we've allowed ourselves to become dependent on their petroleum reserves while foolishly failing to depend on our own ignored and undeveloped energy resources."
America has got to quit taking the easy, lazy, self complaiscent way out on a number of matters. Petroleum
dependence is one of the most glowing examples.
WRONG! They teach their kids to become jihadis for allah at a very young age. Watch this and be informed......

supposedly about 100 people are killed every day in Iraq.
There are no reports to support that claim. The worst month I can find, which includes Iraqi security forces, civilians and coalition troops, was August 2005. The average that month was 60.7 deaths/day. Please stop repeating the propaganda.

The old 'victim' strategy right out of the Cindy Sheehan handbook:
The bit@h in the ditch does not have the brain cells to write a handbook. She has been fed the 'strategy' by her handlers. The victim strategy is not new and it certainly was not developed by her. Please watch the video at the link provided above. It is the strategy of the terrorists.
Thanks for the ping! It is hard to believe some of the stuff I read around here. ;*(
Should Sec'y Rice negotiate with the Hizbus in Tehran rather than Beirut?
By definition terroroists are civilians, but I would hardly call them innocent.
At the same time their families are also civilians; supporting, supplying and hiding the terrorist family members. Are they innocent?
The Islamofascist cowards are hiding behind their own women. Because of that tactic, someone will have to pay for it. It should not be our troops or Israel's.
Let those who chose to fight this way, face the pain and judgment of their choices.
Agree!
Awesome pic.
That's a war crime.
That's what Hezbollah is doing.
I can see how my post was confusing (PWS... posting while sleepy), so I understand why you misunderstood. Just so you'll know, I'm conservative, I support our efforts in Iraq and I support Israel. But thanks for the chance to clear it up and yes, we all know they use kids for shields and suicide bombers, and Cindy Sheehan is a nutcase.
I heard a report last week that said the recent escalated killings in Iraq for the month averaged to about 100 a day, which is why I said "supposedly." It seemed high to me too and surprised me. It may even be erroneous. The source for the "propaganda" (as you called it) was Fox News. I cited that not to make that point, but to make a different point. But even at 60.7 deaths a day, the same point is made:
My purpose was to show the hypocrisy of suggesting this bombing instance is different or more lethal than other terrorist attacks, or daily car bombings in Iraq. It's all tragedy, but this is just another deception to condemn Israel.
"Anyone would protect their kids and get them out of the area first." I was applying Hezbollah's own reverse 'logic' - they mourn their children, yet they left over 20 of them in an apartment in a battle zone. So they play both sides of the fence.
My Cindy Sheehan "strategy" remark was facetious. Only the gullible buy into her victim/maryr crap. No, she doesn't actually have a "handbook." But it is analagous to Hezbollah hiding behind their children and using them as pawns, while playing 'the victim' at every opportunity. But I guess I didn't express it clearly, so I deserved to re-explain it. Hope this helps. :)
