SPARRING OVER SERBIA
STEPHEN SCHWARTZ's "Free at Last" (July 24) left me greatly surprised and somewhat disappointed, both by the distortion of historical and political facts and by the argumentation based on malicious and trivial political comments.
Describing Serbia as a "mafia state" is intentionally overlooking the well-known fact that the Milosevic regime met its end when the Serbian people, investing enormous effort and encountering the greatest possible risk, overthrew it in their bloodless revolution of October 2000. Serbian democratic authorities, in their crackdown on organized crime, and with the support of the United States, have established special courts that have already sentenced notorious leaders and members of criminal gangs and that have indicted war criminals. Since then Serbia has kept its democratic and reformist course through several elections, resulting in the victory of democratically oriented governments that have been consistently committed to bringing our nation toward Euro-Atlantic integration.
Serbian democratic leaders have been building friendly relations for the last six years with our neighbors, and the Montenegro referendum has shown how effortlessly the dissolution of the union of the two old European states was handled. The president of Serbia was the first head of state to visit Montenegro after the referendum, and he immediately extended congratulations and the hand of friendship. Unfortunately, Kosovo was addressed in a shallow and ignorant way. One should be aware that the exceptionally perilous circumstances of Serbs in Kosovo require exceptional provisions for their protection. So far, not enough has been done toward building inter-ethnic confidence. ...

Ah.... Schwartz ... it goes well with lemonade and a just drop of cyanide
Hehheeee...
you know when DREAMWORKS movie is starting, and picture of that boy is sitting on a half-moon fishing... ? I ALLWAYS think of Schwatrz.. or Hoplite...
:)))))))
Give Mr. Schwartz credit for one thing though -- admitting in print that Wahhabis had taken over in Kosovo. He could have kept his mouth shut about it.
An Orthodox priest recently told me that Albright apologized to an Orthodox leader about her role in the bombing of Serbia.
Anyone know about this? I have never heard anything about an apology, and even if she did, if it's not public it means nothing.
I know nothing about it and my internet search revealed nothing on it either.
One major mistake the Serbs made re Madelyn Albright -- they should have offered up the best looking young male Serb politicians to deal with her. She drooled all over Sacribey and then later over Thaci. I think US foreign policy in the Balkans was being run by the state of Albright's pants back then!
Then of course there is the story of how ugly Mad Maddie was jilted by a serbian boyfriend when her father was stationed in Belgrade after they escaped from Czechoslovakia. Talk about getting revenge!
Madeleine Albright is a fat, stupid, ugly, evil-minded little troll and a poster child for resurrecting the auto de fe.
Thanks.
What should one think of someone who converts to Islam in the first place?
I know how damaging his articles have been to the Serbs, especially when people look at his name and assume that he is Jewish, not Moslem, giving him greater credibility.
But, perhaps his surprise re Wahhabism was genuine and it was decent that he admitted that surpise. That's all. Nothing more.
Listen, I still haven't gotten over the fact that Cat Stevens became "Yusef Islam" and gave up music -- now there was a real sin! It would have been better if he died rather than do what he did, because it would mean we could still enjoy the music without feeling like crap for enjoying it!
