At least two or three people shoot.
SEATTLE – At least two people have been shot at the Jewish Federation at 2031 Third Ave. in downtown Seattle. One or two people have been taken into custody but it's not known if they are suspects.
One person was reportedly shot in the abdomen and another in the arm. They are being taken to Harborview Medical Center.
Part of Third Avenue and Second Avenue have been closed to traffic. Police are urging people to stay away from the area. It's not known if more suspects are at large but policemen were seen handcuffing one person and others were searching the area.
At least three people were seen emerging from the building, escorted by police. It's not know if they were hostages.
Medics, escorted by police, have been taking other people from the building.

That's very nice! I have a S&W 629 (44 mag) with an 8 3/8" barrel. It's frighteningly accurate and a real pleasure to shoot. When I used to have a more stressful job I would go shooting after work, and it was a great stress reliever, feeling the ground shake under me :-)
I wouldn't trust the media's accuracy on gun reporting. Remember the DC sniper shootings, when they referred to the .223 round as "very high powered?"

Strange, at the news conference, the mayor or chief said a large caliber gun and also hand gun in a seperate statement. I was watching it on KIRO.
I am interested in the kind of weapons these guys might usually use because I will select accordingly.
And so it begins.
It reminds me of we (few remaining) Seattle natives, who tend to get overly hot when it gets above 65 F. and we wonder "what's that hot, bright thing in the sky?" for about two weeks ever year. The rest of the time we just try not to step in too many puddles :-)

Sorry to say that in your scenario of a bunch of schools, etc. attacked simultaneously, I don't think the response would be overwhelming.
Democrats would say "we deserved it" because of Republican policies. The world community would threaten us with war crimes tribunals if our response was anything beyond a few bombs here and there.
Sure, we could nuke something or somewhere, but the associated parties aligned for a socialist world utopia would use that as their excuse to overwhelm the United States of America as we know it - with embargoes [think oil embargo], financial pull-out [1929], etc. But for the fact that millions of Americans would help them, we might just make it out in one piece. With 40% of our country helping the Reds (or Pinks better said), civil war here might ensue.
More likely, people would just cave to the world and vote out whomever had done the "massive" retribution.

True - It was actually a synagogue he shot up; did kill his Jewish neighbor, and killed some Korean guys who at the martial arts studio they owned in a strip mall nearby. I believe also that there was speculation that he was angry because an African-American man killed several people at a McDonald's in Wilkinsburg (suburb of Pittsburgh) several weeks earlier and that he was "even-ing the score". If he is in prison, that's a weak outcome - in PA, he "could" have fried...
