THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA CALLS ON ALL TO ACT IN ACCORDANCE WITH HONEST, CONSCIOUS AND INTERNATIONAL MORAL AND HUMANITARIAN LAWS. IT ALSO WARNS ALL THAT IF THE PEACE OPTION IS REJECTED DUE TO THE ISRAELI ARROGANCE THEN ONLY THE WAR OPTION REMAINS AND NO ONE KNOWS THE REPERCUSSIONS BEFALLING THE REGION, INCLUDING WARS AND CONFLICT THAT WILL SPARE NO ONE INCLUDING THOSE WHOSE MILITARY POWER IS NOW TEMPTING THEM TO PLAY WITH FIRE.

I did not add the capitals, that's how the last paragraph of the release was sent. Seems like the house of Saud is making some threats. This could be bad.

The Saudis talk a good game, but the last thing they want to do is to stick their velvet robed asses into the IDF buzzsaw.

This is for domestic and regional consumption, nothing more and nothing less.

I imagine the house of Saud has to do a little damage control in their own backyard after it got out last week that they essentially blamed Hezbullah. I think the intended audience for this is Joe Muhammed sitting in Riyadh.

But I am also sure Israel could accommodate them with yet another bloody nose if they're itching for it.

You hit it on the head. They're not going to risk themselves over the Palestinians, who they've never given a damn about except as props. Kind of like everyone else in the region.

You'd think from the way they go on that Israel has stolen 87% of the land in the region. If they were sincere about helping them out, why can't some of these other countries hand over a portion of their property to their "brothers"? Yes, that's a rhetorical question.

Too True.

Punch a Saudi in the nose and he cries like a woman.

The Saudis pay others to do their work. They have got to be the most lazy Pukes on the planet.

I thought that the moderate arab outcry against hezbollah was too good to be true.

"Birds of a feather stick together"

Nuke them all now and lets be done with it already.

This conflict is inevitable, and will likely involve the U.S. Bush said that we would defend Israel. Future presidents likely will have the same policy. As terrible as war is, the sooner this one happens the better. Why let Iran fight it with long-range missles and WMD?

I say that we get it over with:

U.S., Israel, and any other LOYAL supporters versus the entire radical Arab world in one enormous clash of arms

...and the U.N. can stay out of it!

Very interesting. Here's the whole text (for folks who never click on links):

JEDDAH, JULY 25, SPA -- FOLLOWING IS THE STATEMENT ISSUED TODAY BY THE ROYAL COURT:
" THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA HAS UNDERSTAKEN THE ROLE REQUIRED OF IT BY ITS RELIGIOUS AND NATIONAL DUTY WITH REGARD TO THE SITUATION IN THE REGION AND REPERCUSSIONS OF EVENTS IN LEBANON AND THE OCCUPIED PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES. IN THIS REGARD, IT HAS CAUTIONED, WARNED AND EXTENDED ADVICE. FURTHERMORE, IT HAS STRIVEN FROM THE FIRST MOMENT TO STOP THE AGRRESSION, MOVING ON MORE THAN ONE FRONT AND BY MORE THAN ONE MEANS, TO PERSUADE THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO FORCE ISRAEL TO AGREE TO A CEASEFIRE.

MEANWHILE, THE KINGDOM HAS DISPATCHED HRH THE FOREIGN MINISTER AND HRH THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL TO MEET H.E. THE U.S. PRESIDENT IN WASHINGTON AND INFORM HIM OF ITS VIEWS ON THE GRAVE AND UNPREDICTABLE CONSEQUENCES OF THE UNREMITTING ISRAELI AGGRESSION IF MATTERS WENT BEYOND CONTROL. THE KINGDOM HAS ALSO ASKED PERSONAL ENVOYS TO VISIT THE CAPITALS OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL'S PERMANENT MEMBER STATES TO CONVEY THE SAME MESSAGE.

THE ARABS HAVE PROCLAIMED PEACE AS A STRATEGIC OPTION FOR THE ARAB NATION. THEY PRESENTED A JUST AND DISTINCT PLAN FOR REGAINING THE OCCUPIED ARAB TERRITORIES IN EXCHANGE FOR PEACE. THEY REFUSED TO RESPOND TO PROVOCATIONS AND IGNORED ANTI-PEACE EXTREMIST CALLS. IT SHOULD BE STATED THAT PATIENCE COULD NOT LAST FOREVER. IF THE ISRAELI MILITARY BRUTALITY PERSISTED WITH KILLINGS AND DESTRUCTION NO ONE COULD PREDICT THE CONSEQUENCES AND THAN REGRETS WILL BE IN VAIN.

THEREFORE, THE KINGDOM ADDRESSES AN APPEAL AND A WARNING TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY IN ITS ENTIRETY, AS REPRESENTED BY THE U.N. AND IN PARTICULAR THE U.S.

Someone on another thread said that SA and other Arab countries were suddenly lining up behind Hizbollah. Another poster said that the conflict will be between the Arabs (represnted by Saudi Arabia, which has Mecca and a bunch of other places frequented by their lunatic prophet, who was an Arab) and Iran, which has nothing but a fanatical Islamic president supported by the usual crazed mullahs, who believes he is fulfilling a sort of one-off prophecy.

Who wins? And which one will attack us? Because the end result is that whoever wins that territorial war is then going to go on to the Big One (against the US and the West, of which Israel is considered a representative).

I agree. They have never sent more than token forces to any of the Arab-Israeli conflicts. During Gulf War I the Saudi military hightailed away from one of their border towns following a rather insignificant Iraqi incursion. In '79 it took practically their whole military to eject a Madhist insurrectionary force of about 1,000 from the Grand Mosque and the Kaaba. This is nothing more than Beduoin bluster.
