As Bush stands firm in the Middle East, he capitulates Europe
Jewish World Review ^ | July 26, 2006 | Julia Gorin

Writing for an outfit called FamilySecurityMatters.org last week, Weekly Standard contributor and longtime champion of Balkan Muslims Stephen Schwartz describes an overnight bus ride from Kosovo's capital Pristina to a resort town in Montenegro:

"A man behind me began speaking almost immediately and without stopping, in Albanian — which I understand…insistently focused on the nature of G-d (a favorite subject for Islamic fundamentalists), [and on] the nefarious influence of Sufis who thought they could reinterpret the faith, the evil intentions of Americans, Iraq, and bloodshed. I was startled because it is rare to hear Albanians, after the rescue of Kosovo, badmouth Americans…G-d is one, who are these people like this American who come and try to tell us how to be Muslims? What about Iraq? Why is this American here with his friend?"

Schwartz then describes a rest stop: "I did not find out where I was until I asked a waiter in the restaurant, because none of the Albanians crowded in the back with me and my Sufi companion and the whisperer in darkness would speak civilly to me. When I asked one man, in Albanian, the name of the town, he answered in Serbian: 'ne znam,' 'I don't know.' Another said it was the Montenegrin capital, Podgorica (it wasn't). And finally a thin punk who could not have been over 20, and who, I soon realized, had been encouraging the voice behind me, said in perfect English, 'I don't understand English.' At the end of the rest period all three people filed back into the bus and avoided looking at me.

"Muhammad woke up and asked me what was going on. I told him, 'Someone back here is making Wahhabi speeches.' He grinned as if in disbelief, but said, 'I'm not surprised.........

'Good'? Using 'capitulate' as a transitive verb is 'good'?

The proper term is 'illiterate'.

Blame the headline writer at Jewish World Review, not Julia Gorin.

Columnists don't compose their own headlines. That's left to headline writers at the various publications who publish their work. The length and depth of the headline can vary widely, based on page format (one column, two column, etc).

So, each publication writes headlines to fit.

Bad grammar and all...

Really good on Clinton, but ewwwwwwwwwww!

Knew before we elected him that we would have to deal with more than we ever wanted to know about what was going on in his pants!

You're absolutely correct AZ.   At the time, we and the whole world were fed a large dose of misinformation and lies by the Clintons and MSM.   Thanks to the Internet and dedicated posters that have keep accurate documentation and pictures, we all know what the true objectives of radical Islam has in store for us.

But where did you get the idea that it was a war between "fascists and Islamists"?

...not only from SDL followers, Sobran fans and neo-NAZI visitors to FR, but also rags like Trifkovic's Chronicles Magazine, published by the Rockford Institute. Quite a few prominent, anti-Israel writers advocate (as they see it) for Serbia. With that and their recent hopes for a Catholic-Eastern Orthodox merger, I can't help but wonder if their parents and/or grandparents might have been affiliated with the Ustashe.

So if what you say is true (and I don't have the numbers to doubt it), then the most noticable voice of Serbs to US readers--rather than that of the majority of them--has been a voice of people who hate Israel.

I also lived in a Balkan/Italian (AKA, "little Balkans") community within one of our states for a few years and found that there wasn't much difference (regarding antisemitism) between Hitler and the Capones of our world (and many of his relatives and neighbors). So yes, I was biased by some experiences.

Yep, and I don't think for a moment if she was elected (or even if McCain was elected) their first order of business would be to find a way to take this form of information away from the general public. They want us as uninformed at the Chinese, Russian's and others.

The Democrats wanted to narcissistically pretend that it was WWII and they were "saving the Jews" -- and Clinton needed something to take the US' minds off of Monica.

And Clinton got to establish (for the generally oblivious public, at least), Democratic defense "creds" -- in a multi-lateral (we had "friends!") air war where our military could be nuanced by our oh-so-wise Euro allies, with no question of using ground troops, and minimal risk of US casualties.

The media obliged by painting the muslims as pathetic victims, and the Christians as viscious animals.

A perfect Democrat war, the illusion of which needs to be maintained until, of course, the reality of Islamic conquest can be blamed on our subsequent evil untilateral agression which radicalized those poor muslim victims.

I doubt that Schwartz will be taking any more bus trips in that area of the world. Reality can be harmful to your health.

Really? As it happens, I'm a writer with several dozen magazine articles to my credit (or discredit, as the case may be). Said articles have appeared in about 23 different publications; the most recent one was my first in an electronic pub.

In every single case, the editor or publisher at least ran their suggested title past me, and in many cases insisted that I write the title. Perhaps things work differently in the blogosphere -- but there's absooutely no reason why they should.

Especially considering results such as this.

I am mystified, familyop.

First of all, Srdija Trifkovic wrote "Sword of the Prophet -- The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" about a year after 9/11. It was rushed to press because of 9/11, but it was so well-rearched it was obviously conceived long before 9/11. Anti-Muslim? Oh yes. Trifkovic was one of the first to say that basically there is no such thing as "moderate Islam".Anti-Israeli? In every article I could find (on short notice), Trifkovic states clearly that "Israel has a right to defend herself", and then he does, rather eloquently talk about how she should be discriminating about what she is trying to accomplish --but I don't see that as anti-Israeli.

Re Sobran, I didn't even know who in the hell Joseph Sobran was (thought you were confusing it with "Srbobran" at first)until you brought him up.

Yes, many conservatives and even far right-wingers said that we should have had nothing to do with the idea of "a humanitarian bombing" and have used "the 1999 NATO Bombing of Yugoslavia" as a way to criticize Democrats. Is that a surprise? Most could truly care less about the Serbs, except as a symbol.

These "(Serbian)hopes for a Catholic-Orthodox merger" are complete news to me! The Greeks (brother to the Serbs) didn't even want the Pope to VISIT Athens, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that "merger" anytime soon!

"I can't help but wonder if their parents and/or grandparents might have been affiliated with the Ustashe."

The WWII Croatian(& Muslim-supported) Ustashi, when in power, had signs that said "no Serbs, Jews, dogs or Gypsies allowed" Ustashi Croat Minister Mile Budak said, "We are a country (which included Bosnia) of only two religions -- Roman Catholicism and Islam", and then proceeded to kill hundreds of thousands of Serbs and Jews together.

So how can a Serb ever be "an Ustashi"? It's like saying most Jews are "pro-Third Reich".

There was a very small Serbian faction called the Ljoticevi who were fascists, but they never got much attention, except as a way of one Serb insulting another by calling the other "Ljoticevi" as an insult!

The weird thing is that pre-Clinton, most American Serbs were FDR Democrats! Virtually every well-known American Serb politician was a Democrat, too. Clinton moved many if not most Serb voters politically to the right, where they became avidly pro-Bush during the last election. Fair lot of good, this has done them!

As for "then the most noticable voice of Serbs to US readers--rather than that of the majority of them--has been a voice of people who hate Israel."

Well, if that is the case, then the Serbs are totally screwed.

Here's one I posted at FR and Julia Gorin also printed on her blog http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1666925/posts Here's another of mine that Julia printed:

Yes, I agree that far too many people of the Balkans who were once victims of a 400-year Muslim genocide too, seem to again be behaving like “dhimmi-in-training”. It’s hard not to wonder if they are suffering from some kind of historical amnesia or are plain anti-semitic! However, I submit that neither is the case. I believe that it is deeper than that and it is not based on anti-semitism, it is based on sheer terror and trying to make sense out of this insane world.

Right next door, the Serbs have become the poster-children for what happens when you fight Islam without the permission of the UN and the West — your country goes on the chopping block with its pieces sold off to the highest bidder or it is given to “the most deserving minorities”. Then you are left with nothing, other than populace held hostage to the subpoenas of a UN World Court and a reputation & economy in tatters for generations. Even dhimmitude seems better than this, because you at least know who your enemy is when you are conquered by Muslims.

But if you fight Islam without permission, you will not just be punished by Islam — that Balkaners could handle. But now, you will also be punished by the US, the UN, the EU, the OSCE, the media and every other organization that the Western world can throw at you. And then add whatever militant Islamic organization who attacked you to that enemy list — and you are completely surrounded and without hope. This is where most Balkaners are in their thinking — compromise in order to survive and say anything that will please your masters so they won’t attack you, too.

In short, many Balkaners are acting like victims of Stockholm syndrome, identifying with their own attackers and challenging anyone who displeases those attackers. And if this is the case for them, they ask themselves why this should not be the case for Israel? If Balkaners aren’t allowed to defend themselves from militant Islam without permission, then what right does Israel have to do so?

Frankly, the level of psychological submission of once proud and brave Balkan Christian people scares the hell out of me. Because if a rugged, take-no-prisoners people who could once shout “Better to be in a Christian Grave than a Muslim’s Slave!” are jumping through hoops like trained poodles, then what hope do we fat and flabby Western weenies have in standing up to the threat of militant Islam?

"Screw Europe!"

Why can't Europe take care of itself?

Good question. Because they are arrogant idiots would be the short answer.

Two reasons to get involved:

1. We, as country, are already involved -- not just because we made this mess, but because we need to clean it up effectively before it comes back to bite --not just Europe--but also us. Bush wants to actively recognize an independent Kosovo, which will be a disaster for Serb Christians and for us, by giving up another piece of land to Muslim terorists.

2. Euros may be arrogant idiots, but they are OUR arrogant idiots! The US can't survive with life as we know it -- socially, militarily, economically, with "a Muslim Europe" and that is what they will become if we don't make Euros stop making seriously stupid decisions!

Did you see that slim bucket on TV the other day say he was "sorry for not intervening during the genocide in Rwanda."

Sure, he's about as sorry as Satan is sorry.

We can encourage and cajole the Euros all day long, but until they get over themselves and stop hating the US, they'll continue to drown in their own bile. I sure hope the latest round of Muslim violence is doing something to wake them up, and make them believe the things we've been saying all along.
